Call for Entries: VicScreen Internship

VicScreen is offering two year-long internships for early to mid-career creatives to propel the careers of stand-out screen practitioners.

Successful applicants will spend three four-month rotations across ABC, Blackfella Films and Good Thing Productions.

Minister for Creative Industries, Colin Brooks said “All Victorians have the right to see themselves reflected on screen and in our creative industries. The Allan Labor Government is working to break down barriers and back our next generation of talent. This Screen Internship program will equip rising stars with the skills, industry exposure and connections to launch a thriving screen career.”

ABC Chief Content Officer, Chris Oliver-Taylor said “We’re thrilled to be part of this exciting initiative with VicScreen, Blackfella Films and Good Thing Productions that not only creates pathways for mid-career producers but fast-tracks professional growth and creates a vital talent pipeline for the Australian screen sector.

“The ABC is committed to creating opportunities that sustain the screen industry and help to create workforces that reflect and represent the diversity of Australia. We look forward to welcoming this year’s interns to our ABC Scripted and Entertainment teams.”

Managing Director of Blackfella Films, Darren Dale said “Blackfella Films is once again excited to be a part of this successful talent development program. Founder and Managing Director of GoodThing Productions, Nick Batzias said “GoodThing are thrilled to be part of this program, having an opportunity to engage with some of the best talent coming through in Victoria. Whilst we are confident that we can provide an environment to support the development of these practitioners, we are also excited about what they will bring to our business during their tenure.”

The two paid internship positions are designed to create pathways into the screen industry for Victorian screen producers from culturally and racially marginalised backgrounds, First Peoples of Australia, people living with disability, or people who identity as female or are trans/gender diverse.

Through the program, the successful applicants will have the opportunity to build skills and knowledge of the current commissioning, funding, and production environment within Australia.

Entries close at midnight on 1 July 2024.
