Greek Police have been searching for renowned British TV doctor Michael Mosley on the island of Symi after he was reported missing.
Dr. Mosley, known for popularising the 5:2 diet, went missing while on holiday on the Greek island.
Greek Police told BBC News Dr Mosley left his wife on the beach and set off on a walk to the centre of the island on Wednesday.
His phone was found at the place he was staying with his wife, Dr Clare Bailey, who reported him missing after her husband did not return home by 7.30pm.
Temperatures in the Dodecanese island Symi reached a scorching 37C.
Police on the island fear the 67-year-old may “have fallen from a height” as he was walking the less-than-a-mile distance to Pedi where he was staying with his wife.
After officers on the island were unable to find Dr Mosley, they requested help from the Greek fire department in Athens.
The area where Dr Mosley is believed to have walked through to get back is in parts impassable and dangerous, according to the fire department.
Firefighters and volunteers are out looking for him on foot, while drones have been deployed to search in areas that cannot be reached. Symi is part of Greece’s Dodecanese island group and had a population of 2,590 in 2011.
A Foreign Office spokesperson said: “We are supporting the family of a British man who is missing in Greece and are in contact with the local authorities.”
The 67-year-old broadcaster is well known for programmes including Trust Me I’m a Doctor, Michael Mosley’s Health Intervention and features heavily locally on SBS.
Three part series Australia’s Sleep Revolution with Dr. Michael Mosley was recently filmed by Artemis Media, and The Cook Up with Adam Liaw are his most recent screen projects.

Yes I noted in story today.
Thank you!
Dangers of walking places a bt dangerous by yourself. Reminds me of women walking alone at night.
This was breaking news as I went to bed last night. My stomach dropped. And I’ve felt varying degrees of unwell all day. This is one of those stories where you hope it’s concluded with good news but you just know it’s going to be grim.
Oh my goodness. I hope that he is found alive and well. I feel very worried for his safety whilst reading David!
