Melrose remake wins a pilot

Not content with 90210, the CW Network is determined to push ahead with a remake of that excessive 90s hit.

melroseIn the ’90’s Tuesday nights were a bitch.*

Could they be the same all over again? The CW Network is moving forward on a remake of Melrose Place has received an official pilot order, and Oscar winner Davis Guggenheim (An Inconvenient Truth, Deadwood, 24, The Unit, Party of Five) has come on board to direct it. He is known for directing edgier dramas such as .

The new script is written by Darren Swimmer and Todd Slavkin (Smallville), who will serve as executive producers/showrunners.

Red Carpet lush Lisa Rinna has been outspoken about the chance to join the new series, but Heather Locklear has not commented on whether or not she would make an appearance. Grant Show, who played Jake Hanson, initially baulked at the possibility of returning, but has recently said that he may take part if his character got the chance to reunite with Jennie Garth, who played Kelly Taylor on 90210.

The son of ‘Jake’ is believed to be paired with ‘Ella Flynn’, a fashion forward PR wiz.

Expect lots of shoving into the Melrose pool.

* still one of TEN’s best ever campaigns!

  1. It’s a shame how they spoil good tv memories by trying to re live them. Channel ten was my number one network in the days when Melrose & Seinfeld ruled the airwaves. It hasn’t been that in long time.

  2. He currently plays Harry Wilson in 90210 but Rob Estes was once a regular in Melrose playing Kyle McBride.

This therefore presents an interesting question of what happens if Rob Estes were to appear in the new Melrose, would it be as his current 90210 character or his old Melrose character.

  3. MP will probably go the way of 90210 if it does get aired over here…then again with the CW’s woeful ratings I expect this show to be successful for them, they’ll probably pair this up with 90210 on Tuesday nights

  4. have to agree with you David, “Tuesday Nights a bitch’ was one of Ten’s best ad campaigns. I still remember it and I was about ten when those ads aired. As for the new Malrose Place, hopefull not as bad as the new 90210
