  1. the problem is. they threw ads at us that it would be brilliant. they had all the bells and whistles in tha ds. but they didnt do to well starting it up. maybe they should have put alot more work into starting it up right, more then they did with the ads.

  2. Ok, most people here aren’t happy..get over it. Let the rest of us enjoy it for what it is.
For all the nay-sayers, not one alternative is offered by any of you. Neighbours in HD…who cares? God forbid any of you were in charge of a TV Network or we’d be stuck watching D grade sticoms from Botswana as you tried to fill a 24 hr schedule. The two best genre’s for HD are sport and movies.

BM-Dog…it doesn’t show any of the sports you’re interested in? What sport is that? Chess? Nearly every single sport on the planet is accounted for somewhere. Extreme, traditional, hybrids, one-offs…please name your sport!

And to the nuffy’s who keep asking why sport is still being shown on TEN, do some research about anti-siphoning laws in Australia.

  3. i think alot of blame should go towards the government, and not necesarily this government, although they could have changed the rules pretty quick if they wanted to…the networks are partly to blame…its not like they havent had the notice and federal funding to help soften the blow of the costs of the setup of SD and HD…but the complaints about why simulcast on both channels, well thats the government stupid anti siophing (sic) laws, but they are savers for us in the regional areas that SC10 are ignoring…. you can blame alot of people but i think 505 government and 50% networks should just about do it

  4. @Cinfused – The F1 is on ch10 and the new ONE HD so the simple reason not everyone will get the new channel until ‘mid year’ (I don’t) plus people who are still on analogue only get the main channel 10. There would be a national outcry if they moved all sport to ONE HD and I would kill the ch10 programmers if they denied me the F1 or my other sport in some form!

  5. So all those complaining about the 4 way simulcast for AFL – it’s either on 1 or 10 (HD or SD) plus analogue. Guessing it’s to up the PQ or have viewers in SD catch the Ten ads instead

I do fully appreciated now wanting shows in HD because listening to what Letterman says ain’t worth jack (ditto Neighbours etc).

About the only show that would be good in HD is GNW IMO

  6. Why do people keep congratulating Ten on there “Multi-Channeling”??

They havent done a thing….. All they have done is replaced 1 HD channel with another 1. And got rid of all there worthwhile HD content in the process. As of January 1st they were allowed to “Add” a new channel and the new channel they have “Added” is a simulcast of their HD Channel, which doesn’t even simulcast…

Go over to the UK they have been multi-channeling independent channels for years…… they will show you how it is done.

  7. mmm – just finished watching letterman for the first time on their SD feed – it looks the same as foxtel broadcasting channel 10.

although they did not actually show the HD feed from cbs, having it broadcast here in HD made it look so much better.

    very disappointed

  8. great match with lots of goals and lots of excitement, bad news for cousins with this injury though, hopefully carlton can continue to play this well throughout the season.

  9. Well, it’s all well and good, but come 11.30pm tonight after the news where I’d normally watch a little bit of Letterman, and all I get is the One broadcast of the AFL tonight… what’s the point of that? I wanted to watch 10 tonight not One…

  10. Say Bindi, one way that Ten can get around this is to either: a) show a special Video Hits block (and they were going to make that second SD channel into a youth channel itself when they were just talking about it way back) or b) one good trick that can work would be for ONE-SD to carry some classic sport highlights or interview programs (early Aussie Rules, League, Rugby Union match highlights from the 60s through to the 90s, even shows like TV Ringside with Ron Casey come to mind – that kind of thing).

  11. Well a big black screen with the One HD logo
and some text explaining that this current schedule can be seen on One HD and Channel Ten Standard Definition. lol

  12. “so if ONESD does not simulcast ONEHD when they are showing the same thing on 10, what does ONESD show?”

Channel 7 used to shut down their 576p “HD” channel during sport and allocate all the bandwidth to their SD channel. It’s possibly Ten will do that with OneSD — I can’t imagine them running alternate content on OneSD to OneHD.

  13. In which case David it showcases the big One HD logo and says the current schedule is being transmitted on Channel 1 and Channel 10.

They could just put alternative sporting stuff on during that time you would think if the sport is going to be on Ten and One.

  14. Just tuned in to ONE-SD again – finally we’ve got a show happening! And – just noted the first independently-broadcast ad to be shown on ONE was for Sun Rice (showcasing the whole Sun Rice range of rice products) and the second ad was for Hungry Jack’s (you guessed it – for the “Whopper”).

  15. Don’t know about the rest of you, but I enjoyed the count down clock. The anticipation of something about to happen, wondering what was going to hit the screen next. Enjoyed the intro of the old Network Ten images.

They haven’t announced anything but is the network planning on having a day time sports show like they do on Fox Long Lunch? Maybe initially start on the weekend between the AFL matches? What about a foxsports type website with live score/news updates? Their current website is pretty poor for a sports channel but I understand these things take time. It’s possibly in the pipe line?

Will Leigh Diffey be calling the F1 race or will it be Bill Woods? Or have they enticed Murray Walker for the event? Or will they take the ITV feed? I’m sure I saw split second image of Ronaldinho? Was this a random shot for the Sports Tonight section or a slight teaser for the possibility of obtaining Football rights some time down the track? So many questions and not enough answers. Where’s David White when you need him?

Btw – it was in their initial press release in October, but there’s been no mention of Tennis? Will that kick in in the second half of the year? Apologies for the essay long comment.

  16. I can’t believe they replaced tenhd for this! What’s the point of having a hd tv and shooting channel ten shows such as neighbours, us dramas and alot alot more in hd but i cant watch them in hd anymore – so long ten hd, so sad. Very silly decision ten! Not loyal to your hd viewers at all!

  17. Um Cinfused, it’s the Australian Grand Prix. Therefore they give it as much coverage as possible, whilst the Redneck 300 NASCAR race is the kind of motorsport event that will be kept to One HD. All of the European races will get their normal after-Rove timeslot, but this is one of the biggest weekends of the year that Ten have, you seriously think they’ll throw it onto a secondary channel so the ultra cheap people can watch edited movies instead?

Do you expect all drama to be moved off Nine and onto whatever their new channel will be called just so they can air movies instead?
