Your guide to ONE

TV Tonight brings you a complete Guide to programming on ONE in its first week.

oneChannel TEN will launch its 24 hour high definition channel ONE with a half hour Welcome to ONE special at 7:30pm on Thursday March 26 followed by AFL Football and Swimming Skins.

It is preceded by a “Countdown to One” from 6am.

A Richmond v Carlton game will air at 8pm local time in Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth followed by Swimming Australia Skins at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre.

Swimming Skins will air at 8pm in Sydney and Brisbane followed by the AFL match.

In the next 24 hours ONE will screen NASCAR, BMX, Mountainbike, Motorsport and athletics.

NCAA Basketball and Formula 1 practice will screen live in all cities on Friday 27th March at varying times.

In the lead-up to ONE, the channel screens other sports including 2009 Telstra Australian Swimming Championships Heats, live NBA and NCAA Basketball.

In the days following its launch ONE offers everything from Paintball and Power Boating to Golf and World’s Strongest Man plus a 7pm half hour Sports Tonight.

For those without a HD TV or set top box, identical programming can be seen on Standard Definition on Channel 12.

The launch of ONE is the first major move by a commercial Free to Air Network as it gravitates towards a complete switch to digital television and the forthcoming Freeview platform. It will also mean the end of TEN HD and availability of other programmes in high definition.

Seven and Nine are yet to reveal details of their plans.

You can download a complete programming guide for ONE for its first week on air in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth beginning March 22 here.

  1. I love the new channel and all, but what is stupid is that i can’t even see the opening AFL game live in Brisbane.. instead they put boring swimming on (im hoping the afl will be on live on sd at least).. and i laugh everytime i see the ads for one hd where richo talks about being able to now view there games inn full hd on their 24 hour sports channel, looks like il have to stay up to 11.50 just to watch the game, so much for it being a quality sports channel! Bad start, though i hope for the best

  2. Sorry if I’m a little slow on the uptake but does this mean that ONE being available on SD means I can pick it up with my little rabbit ears on top of the box?

  3. Well done Ch10. Along with ABC the only network taking advantage of digital properly. Looking forward to OneHD and already very much enjoying your increased sports coverage on 10HD. Cheers to 10, keep up the good work.

  4. I live in Cairns and will not recieve this channel. I get Southern Cross Ten and it is obvious that they do not care about digital. They have no idea when they will launch it and will probably hope people will stop complaining about it and then use this to justify not broadcasting it. Everyone in a Southern Cross Area should bombard their phone lines with complaints. They are the worst boradcasters ever.

  5. Got a Qestion and a Suggestion – now with a dedicated Sports channel will the F1 and motogp be showen live now? Im sick and tired of the delayed coverage of motorsport espeally that good old ‘time zone’ delay that SA and WA have to put up with!? Surely if you can be bothered showing it live in 3 states why not the rest of the Country!!

What would make me and fans Australia wide happy would be if One TV could do a deal with Football Federation Australia to get the A-leauge into Free to Air Television – even just a highlights package and one live game per week.

  6. Jeff, not sure where you are referencing that from but it sounds a bit confused. ONE officially launches 7:30pm Thu Mar 26 as indicated in the story followed by either AFL or swimming. Current non-sports shows in HD including Dance, Neighbours, Loser etc will then only be seen in SD.

  7. Why can’t Ch10 (and the others) have more than one HD channel?

So you have the main Ten SD and simulcast in HD then the same for the sports channel?

Then FreeView can say 20 channels for you to watch LOL

  8. Interesting how many posters want this channel on Foxtel yet others claim Fox Sports will out do it.

For those dismayed at Paintball, well get over it and look at the 20 hours of good sport programming. Jesus, it’s only a hour a week during the graveyard shift and for those wondering why every sport isn’t one, get real other media do have broadcast rights. Fox Sports doesn’t own everything or show it. For a single channel it’s okay. Nascar – ONE has Nationwide races live and Sprint race highlights (plus some qualifying etc)

Ten just need to plan the removal of the SD version in a couple of years to make way for Ten HD again and then it’s sweet for all parties.

  9. a fortnight to go till i delete TenHD (sorry OneHD) from my Tuner….. I have no interest in any of the sports they are going to show…. Complete waste of a channel especially when all the major sports are still going to be shown on Ten Digital…… they should have stuck it on the spare SD Channel instead of having it as there only dedicated HD channel and then simulcasting the same content on the new SD Channel…. idiots.
This is just there way of having three channels when they actually only have two channels
How, in this day and age can any television network around the world not have a HD channel showing drama and content that is actually worthy of being in HD. So much for all of their “i can see clearly now” TenHD advertisements…. i guess it is back to the “Dark Clouds” and being “Blind” for Ten

  10. they havent gone into depth fo where we can get this or it will be on foxtel digital. all they have done is show a fancy ad and say boringmaine and walldo will be host a s**t show about afl

  11. im not that into AFl(well i dont watch any of it) but will try to watch nascar and Slamball but dont know if i will get into it, also how many nascar races will we see live or delayed because i see alot of live qualifing but dont many races.

  12. that media spy article is old, since then SC have said they will not be ready in time and cannot say when they will be. it is all a complete smokescreen though, if they wanted to flip the switch today they could, numerous people have reported seeing snippets of 10HD exclusive content only for SC to realise and switch to the loop, the real reason is advertising dollars and local ads.

stan- channel 11 should disappear completely, if they leave it up for a little while it will show the same content as 1 until they get rid of it.

this new channel will not mean less sport on the main 10 channel, in fact it will mean more, because 10 have paid all this money for sports rights so they like to put the finals on the main channel to get maximum exposure and value for money, however it might mean less interruption of regular viewing by them showing it live on ONE and delayed on 10 once primetime is over.
