Rush wins third season on TEN

TEN's continues to show faith in its latest drama series, greenlighting a third season for its Tactical Response Unit.

RUSHTEN has approved a third series for Rush.

The drama starring Rodger Corser, Callan Mulvey and Catherine McClements has had a strong second season in its new Thursday timeslot.

Producers John Edwards and Mimi Butler said: “From the get go TEN have loved the show and given it the best support possible. We’re thrilled to be going again.”

TEN drama executive Rick Maier said: “Rush has commanded attention from the start with its killer cast and strong commitment to quality. TEN is immensely proud of the show’s success both here and overseas.”

Earlier this week the network announced a new telemovie, Offspring, starring Asher Keddie, and it has two other telemovies which have completed shooting: Hawke and The Killing of Caroline Byrne.

  1. I am so glad to read this. I’m not even Australian or even in Australia and I can’t wait for season 3 to show. Excellent news! Keep up the good work, Aussies!

  2. OMG…
rush is my favourite show ever.
i look forward to it each thurs. 😀
not so many of my friends like it .

but i am so excited for season threee. (:

  3. Best Australian show on tv.

Rush always starts with a bang. My only criticism would be the show slows right down in the middle. You can watch 20 minutes in which next to nothing happens. The problem’s exacerbated by the long and many ad breaks.

  4. Ryan, if you remember correctly, Rush premiered behind Masterchef in its final ratings-breaking week and that episodes numbers were no higher than the average for all of this seaosn has been, proving that Masterchef isnt the appropriate booster for this series.

  5. Lars and the real Girl is not as far fetched as you think, there’s a documentary which I think was released first called Guys and Dolls. These people sadly actually exist. So while it was probably inspired by the movie and I also thought it was a bit lame it was at least a surprising twist.

  6. This makes me very happy!

Wonder if Ten will stick with the 22 episode season; or maybe they’ll try pull an All Saints and make it yearly 😛 Though I do hope they keep it at the 22 episode limit. I wonder if aired when Ten has momentum e.g. Masterchef if it would pull even better figures.

It just needs a stable timeslot now

It’s held it’s current timeslot all throughout Season 2, an extremely stable move in light of other series such as City Homicide which have been moved mid-season. It’s been a very modest sucess in terms of what Nine or Seven may be seeking, but no less, a success for TEN.

  8. Great news for the cast and crew of Rush. It just needs a stable timeslot now. Its next challange is to stave off new fasttracked episodes of CSI when they start in two weeks’ time.

  9. Hardly surprising given its increase in ratings & the fact that Ten has no real drama alternatives. It’s one of Ten’s few successes (albeit modest) in the second part of the year.
