David any word if Scifi will be showing Warehouse 13?
@ Marco: My dad does that too. Our plasma receives both analogue and digital reception, and he tends to watch the 4:3 analogue reception stretched out and insists that there’s “no difference” between the analogue and HD broadcasts. You read right. Since we have two TVs, I even compared the two to him but he doesn’t listen. He stretches VHS as well.
All too often I see people blowing their money on big fat TVs only to watch their shows all stretched out. A clever investment right there. -.-
Not sure yet on Proj Runway US. Doubtful on The Phone. I see no word on Football Superstar either.
The 4th season of Dexter starts on Thursday the 3rd of December at 8:30pm on showcase, after Tangle winds up. YAY!
David, do you know anything about Project Runway USA on Arena? Will Arena still have rights to it even though it moved from Bravo to Lifetime?
@Craig, absolutely agree with you. Apologies for my confusion. I know there’s a sector out there (and some friends I could absolutely slap!) that insists their widescreen TV be filled up to the point of stretching the picture out of all proportion.
I’m disappointed there is no mention of Dexter season 4. I’ve held off downloading it because I’d rather watch it on Foxtel, Hopefully it isn’t too far away.
What about Dollhouse!?!?
Has anyone heard of any news on whether or not Fox8’s “The Phone” will return at all?.. I Loved that show and would really like to see another series made out of it.
Though I thought some of the acting done by the host was truly awful.
That’s excellent!!
Certainly looking forward to ‘Spirited, Selling Houses, Project Runway, Next Top Model’ Great programms.
Hopefully, a 2nd series of ‘Tangle’ as well. I am really enjoying the series so far. (and 4th Satisfaction).
******They forgot to mention that “Satisaction – Season 3″ premieres on Showcase in December
Yes, well that is 2009, the article is about 2010.
JH, didn’t they say they wanted to do a sitcom?
@Marco – I’m not saying older 4×3 shows need to be cut to fit 16×9, all I’m saying is for the channel to go to WS and for the shows that are in 16×9 to air that way on a proper 16×9 channel!
foxtel…chaser…… what sort of format would this be?
I thought they wouldn’t have done anything in telly for a while.
Did anyone expect this?
I missed Arena, also a Foxtel O&O that is 4×3
Foxtel only owns the following channels:
111 Hits
Bio.
Crime & Investigation
FBO
Fox Classics
FOX8
The Comedy Channel
The History Channel
W.
Of those only The History Channel and The Comedy Channel are not 16×9
Any other channels that are still 4×3 are not under Foxtel ownership, so it’s up to them not Foxtel when they go widescreen
Wow..nothing of interest there
Was it my imagination or did TEN sell 90210 on to Foxtel?
Weren’t Nine committed to making a Sheer Genius type program but gave it the axe?
Million Dollar Salon, yup.
Craig, there’d be plenty of people (including me) to argue the craziness of cropping a 4×3 show to make it 16×9. Understandable if the shows are filmed 16×9 to be showed that way, though. I spotted Partridge Family on GO! in widescreen the other day and just couldn’t believe they would go so far in their treatment of old shows. Yet to see what they’ve done to Bewitched and Jeannie….are they widescreen too? Sacrilege!
So Gossip Girl will be back in December, I’m presuming when Bones finishes up which is currently airing in it’s regular spot at 8.30pm Tuesdays.
Any idea when Dollhouse will return? I’m sure FOX8 promised it by the end of the year…
Gossip Girl comes back when i leave the country! Typical! Thats a good cast pic of them <3
Enough of the 2010 highlights and new channels, what’s about updating your remaining 4×3 channels to 16×9?
They forgot to mention that “Satisaction – Season 3” premieres on Showcase in December.
Come Dine With Me should be good fun, I assume this is the Aus version? It is such a good show to watch, very amusing.
Best Fotexl shows right now are ‘Better off Ted’ on Comdey, brilliant show, and ‘Tabitha’s Salon Takeover’ on Arena – she is brutally honest and rude. I never thought I would ever watch this show, but now I cant wait to watch it.
