Parks and Recreation for Seven’s summer

Channel Seven has unveiled some of its summer programming, including Parks & Recreation, Band of Brothers and more FlashForward -but kept its big surprises under wraps.

ParksAndRecreationChannel Seven has unveiled some of its summer programming, but kept its surprises under wraps.

It will premiere new US comedy Parks and Recreation, the mockumentary that replaced Kath & Kim (US). Written by Greg Daniels and Michael Schur it features Amy Poehler as the deputy director of the Parks and Recreation department in the fictional town of Pawnee, Indiana.

There are new  episodes of Band of Brothers, Gary Unmarried, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

In repeat are How I Met Your Mother, 30 Rock, Better Homes and Gardens.

It will air a new episode of FlashForward on November 30th.

Ernie Dingo will host new lifestyle series No Leave, No Life in which hard-working Aussies are whisked off on a holiday (where do we sign up?). It is followed by the factual series Borderline.

Seven is likely to fill in its remaining titles next week. At least one of these will be Wallander starring Kenneth Branagh.

  1. Oh and Louis is back, but at 11.30pm. Seven you drongos this would rate well earlier! Nothing is better than people taking the micky out of yanks without them even noticing.

  2. 11.30pm? Might as well not even put it on. At least my favourite show The First 48 is back. They should however put it on at 9.30pm as it’s a terrific show and could probably build an audience.

If you have not watched it catch an episode of The First 48.

  3. I don’t think the problem is the lack of content its the timeslot some of the comedies have been given and considering they have a 2nd channel they could have been given a decent timeslot.

Also im expecting a lot of repeats from seven.

  4. I know what channel I wont be watching over summer! too bad Ive seen all the Sunny in Philly eps, which btw they could at least give that a chance at like 9:30 or 10pm; its hilarious!

Did 7 get the rights to Community? that’s another funny show.. why cant they put that on?

Also how about a FTA station picking up Chelsea Lately for weeknights!

  5. P&R will fail massively on the main channel. It’s first season is very shaky, it was rushed to air and it’s very evident throughout the season.

I stuck with the show, now in season 2, and it’s improved massively.

I reckon the should put it on Seven2, as otherwise they’ll likely pull the plug on it.

I really hope they give 30 Rock a good, regular timeslot this time around. The show is brilliant, written very tightly, and deserves an Aussie audience and following.

  6. why don’t Seven program 30Rock at 8.30 and it will build up an audience that may help it keep those viewers in the new year. It is such a waste of a good show at 10.30 PM

  7. Band of brothers is obviously a promotional platform for the pacific, good that they nabbed it off 9. 7 must have spawned a very good relationship with HBO, i hope there is an official deal around the corner.

    10:30pm 30 Rock rpt
    11:00 Parks and Recreation
11:30pm It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia
    ^^fantastic TV, but so late??

7 has rights to the NBC drama ‘The Philanthropist’ it is 8 weeks, would fit perfectly into summer. i have heard good things about it i hope that pops up. along with Mercy, CH(R), Bones, Thank god you’re here (R), and maybe beauty and the Geek US?

  8. Parks & Rec at 11pm?! What the hell! At least TEN are giving The Office a chance! Damn you Seven! Give 30 Rock and Parks & Rec a chance on Mondays! Not stupid Gary Unmarried :'(

  9. Surprisingly weak schedule from Seven. Repeat episodes of ‘Mother’ is about all I’ll tune in for out of that.

Parks and Recreation isn’t a terrible show (never could be with Rashida Jones, yum) but I highly doubt it would work here in primetime. While it was developed as a spin-off to “The Office” its a very.. american show.

  10. Nope good enough Seven. Just cos it’s Summer period dfoesn’t mean you ahve to make it crap, you can try. 30 Rock 10.30 and Parks & Recreation at 11. And then they put Sexiest Beach Bodeis at 9.30. Come on. This is the time to try programs in prime time to build an audience.

  11. Unlike Ten all the good shows are left till late night; they should’ve bought 30 Rock and Parks forward to primtetime slots; is Band of Brother the Hanks/Speilberg mini-series that aired on Nine?!?

Seven’s summer get s a big fat yawn from me. It would’ve got more approval is 30 Rock and Parks got a shot in early evening primtetime; thankfully I obtain both series already.

  12. ETA – FlashForward – according to what I’ve seen FF will air Nov 19 in the US but not on the 26th, then be back for it’s mid-season final Dec 3rd. If this is the case then how can it air on Seven Nov 30 when they wont be airing the Thursday before in the US?

Unless what I’ve read on thefutoncritic.com is wrong or out dated?
