Cougar Town, How I Met Your Mother fans angry
Viewers surged online last night to vent their anger upon discovering two of their Thursday comedies had disappeared from their TVs.

It started at 2:12pm yesterday, and it never really let up until just before midnight.
TV Tonight received a surge of complaints yesterday as more viewers began to realise that Cougar Town and How I Met Your Mother had been pulled from Seven’s schedule.
At their peak, the comments were flooding in at just a minute apart. All of them were angry about the shows being pulled, with many viewers complaining they enjoyed the shows and they were taken off without notice. Such are the realities of modern day programming.
There was also little love for the replacement show Criminal Minds with many readers commenting that its murderous agenda wouldn’t fit their desire for a laugh at the end of the day. Some called for a boycott or threatened to ban other Seven shows as a result of the switch.
It’s been a while since this sort of fury has generated such immediate passion here, memorably reflected when Nine pulled Fringe and TEN (repeatedly) dumped Supernatural fans went into a tailspin (fans of the latter are still leaving regular comments on this old story).
Jodie said: “How bitterly disappointing!! Just what we need another criminal investigation show. Its nice to be able to sit down at the end of a day and enjoy a good laugh, instead of going to bed thinking about murders and crimes.”
Marie said: “I can not believe you have axed Cougar Town & How I Met Your Mother!!! The only show I watch on free to air t.v… back to Austar for me.”
Lisa said: “What a joke! Had the kids in bed, ready with the icecream for my only night of tv worth watching – Cougar Town followed by HIMYM and whatttt its been cancelled – very unhappy now.”
Hollywood Syd said: “I only watch one show on Channel 7.. or used to.. HIMYM. I guess I won’t be watching the station at all now. At least put it on 7TWO which seems to be a dumping ground for all your other axed shows.”
Danielle said: “Here I am waiting for my Thursday night duo of Cougar Town and HIMYM to find out its not on 🙁 It was my hour of laugh and now its gone. Booo Criminal Minds, NCIS is so much better anyway!”
Sonia said: “Wow, just tuned in to watch Cougar Town and it is gone. At least I can type in “how come Cougar Town is not showing now on Seven” and I get a response, unlike the notice that we have received from the actual TV station. Very dissappointed, it was funny.”
Manda said: “You need a new boss! I loved Cougar Town! It was great to have something new on instead of repeats.”
megs said: “I will no longer watch any new shows on channel 7 sick of falling in love wiith them to have you just take them off I will be only be buying tv on DVD.”
No doubt whoever was manning the phones for Seven last night can tell a similar tale.

I’m a bit sick of Channel 7 messing with shows. You would think they would have skilled staff that would know which shows should be screened when to get maximum viewers, instead they seem to guess, then chop and change it when it doesn’t get the result they’re after. What I’m amazed with is, because HIMYM isn’t being screened on tv, you can’t even watch it on i7. If Channel 7 doesn’t plan to screen this show, why not put remaining eps online for us to watch from there? Or is this too logical for a free-to-air tv station?
I know I’m a bit late searching the whereabouts of cougar town, but I was sincerely hoping it yet another botched scheduling job by channel 7, and the situation would only be temporary.
I’ve had it with free to air TV and irregular shows, I’ve signed up with Austar.
I personally love Cougar Town, it’s intelligent, sharp and witty. However I recognise it’s problem – it doesn’t have canned laughter, so most people out there don’t know when to laugh. It’s an indictment on society in general, but I notice the really good comedies (Scrubs, 30 Rock, Cougar Town, Community) are just a bit too intelligent for the average punter.
This really is disappointing, cougar town was my favourtie t.v show and I loved watching HIMYM. I actually decided to advertise on prime because I felt that it had some good new shows (for a change) that my target market would watch. I am now seriously thinking about advertising with another television station.

I’ll never find out who the mother is!!!! Seriously, watching How I Met Your Mother Thursday night was fantastic for a good laugh after a hard day. Now they’ve replaced it with people getting shot and commiting crimes on Another American crime show. Good on you, Channel 7… Screwing up something else.
This is actually the worst move made for channel seven, i mean really. They clearly didnt think this on through, how i met your mpther was pure genius, very disapointed. No more channel 7 for me now.

can’t believe 7 was dumb enough to pull these 2 shows off and put up repeats of criminal minds….there are a gazillion crime and medical shows out there and these 2 shows were some seriously funny s*$t-Bring them back….and now I totally remember why we got paid tv because the free to air stations pull srunts like this without any warning – its crap!!
If Channel 7 is listening Get Rid of that Lame Home and Away off the Air for good and start putting on How I met your Mother after Today Tonight.I would rather have an easy to watch sitcom after an hour of News and Current Affairs than have to put up with another episode of garbage.
Althought I am male I found Cougartown to be hilarious and disappointed to hear it was yanked without any warning.The Only Other Channel 7 programmes we watch in our house are The Morning Show, Home and Away,Australias Got Talent,Dog Squad,Border Security,Airways and My Mothers Favourites which I don’t watch of Greys Anatomy,Private Practice,Brothers and Sisters and Today Tonight Other than that Nothing Else Appeals to me.I miss How I met your mother too It was a great comedy and a nice mid week laugh.
Bring back Cougar Town Channel 7!!!!! This show was hilarious. Not happy that it was yanked. Seriously…. you treat your viewers like idiots and you wonder why people are switching to pay TV!!!
Channel seven, what a veeeery stupid decision. HIMYM was the best comedy on tv, waaaay better than a stupid repeat of yet another crime show. no doubt you will be losing a lot of viewers, as you are just plain stupid. im extremely disappointed and im sure many other fans of HIMYM and cougar town are as well. Ruined my Thursday night.
What a crock channel 7!! Who do you survey when you reckon a show is not doing well, you have just pull a great show – Cougar Town. Bring it back or give it to another network that will show it. You do this all the time, start a new tv show then pull it. Why bother in the 1st place – do your homework.
Found Out In the Paper TV Guide this Morning they are still showing The Vicar of Dibley and Criminal Minds.The Former is so out of date Hello The Nineties were a long time ago and seriously Channel 7 does a day go by where they don’t show any form of Crime Shows except on Saturday Nights on any Network. Booooo!!I guess I will be watching A SBS cooking show tonight.
A Double Lot of Cougar Town and How I met your Mother along with the Family Guy Marathon used to make up my Thursday Night Viewing.Now In our home Since the Earlier Comedies got the axe we switch over to the SBS offerings which are more interesting than some boring criminal minds program.To add insult to Channel 7 they did this on the eve of the Late Mafia King Carl Williams Funeral Shame on Them.
I just don’t get why tv channels pull or axe shows that are going sooo great in the U.S just after a few episodes. Take 90210 in channel 10 last year for example; Just 3 episodes and its axed because of low ratings? Come on! Give that show a chance! Anyway, I know a lot of people look forward to thursday night laughing marathon of Cougar Town and HIMYM. And when I read in the paper that Cougar Town was axed I was so disappointed and outraged. I was looking forward to Lisa Kudrow’s reunion with Courtney Cox-Arquette in the next episode/ And these two great shows have been replaced by the incredibly stupid british comedy from like billions of years ago, ‘Vicar of Dibley’ – Seriously? Who watches that crap? Why is it back on tv??? Why would anyone watch a nun kissing herself in the mirror?

I just assumed they were taking off Cougar Town and How I Met Your Mother because Channel 10 scheduled the return of Glee at the same time. Glee’s a powerhouse they knew they couldn’t compete with, so instead of putting on brand new episodes of these shows and try to compete, they just put on Criminal Minds (aka their stock-standard “replacement” show) instead. That was just how I saw it.
As usual some idiot sitting at the top dictates what the public wants to watch yet again- no wonder people are now buying series on dvd instead of watching them on TV!! why take off two shows that give you a laugh!!!! I am still reeeling that the idiot Matty Johns gets his own ridiculous show and runs over time every week like all other channel seven shows – there clocks must be all running slow. bring back cougar town & how i met your mother – god knows there is enough hours in the sheduling for repeats of other crap on both your channels. why not give some time and space to new shows to gain a following????
Can you at least release the DVD of Cougar Town season one so that we can see it, or release all episodes to iTunes so that I can buy them?!
Cougar Town was the first show in years that I have actually planed my day around seeing!

Both are rather low quality TV.
Again it really sucks about HIMYM & whats more annoying is replacing it with re runs of C-Minds
