Terminator‘s Linda Hamilton is joining Chuck, to play Mary Bartowski, the long-missing mother of Chuck (Zachary Levi) and Ellie (Sarah Lancaster) in a recurring guest role.
Executive producer Josh Schwartz at a Comic-Con panel said the casting was inspired by fan suggestions online.
“She’s been such an icon as an action-female badass mom,” Schwartz says. “The fans put it out there, and she heard about it, and was like, ‘I heard I’m Chuck’s mom.’
“It’s going to be a huge part of the (4th) season, the search for mom, it’s going to drive so much of season four,” Schwartz said. “Chuck and Morgan are going to be a pretty bad but good spy team.”
Hamilton will be briefly introduced in the next season opener. And Isaiah Mustafa (aka “The Old Spice Guy”) will also guest star.
The third season begins on FOX8 this Thursday at 7:30pm.

They should have got Mary McDonnell she looks more like the character than Linda
Who cares.. I’m too cheap for pay tv and nine has stuck this on at about 2 am on a thursday morning. I did like the show though. But i guess more people want to watch bachelor etc
But we know who she will play.
I loved being surprised the first time I saw Scott Bakula as his father.
Either way I think it’s a great choice.
FYI I just found out some casting news for Parenthood S2.
Broadly speaking I don’t view cast joining or leaving a show as a Spoiler. It’s usually detail about how the character exits etc that is best avoided.
I love this news but isn’t it a bit of a spoilers?
