  1. @Ronnie – completely agree about the names. Especially Jennifer Mapplethorpe – sounds like some kids cartoon character.

How are they going to be able to go into any depth of any of the characters if there are so many. Secondly, most of the charactrs are really bland and dull – Jarvis is good but don’t like any of the others ones.

On 90’s Aussie cop shos like Water Rats and Stingers the characters were flawed and interesting and believable – why aren’t we getting any of that? This show has great potential so its a shame.

  2. I would have thought that a more appropriate replacement for Daniel MacPherson would have been a block of wood, in line with his great range as an actor.

  3. They really don’t need a new detective to replace Daniel Macpherson. They brought in two new ones last season which wasn’t really necessary although i do like both characters.

  4. Yawn – Why does he need to be Bernice Waverley’s nephew (does anyone else think Bernice Waverley and Jennifer Mapplethorpe are the two most ridiculous names on telelevsion? What’s that about?). There’s no way could be Italian, or go right out on a limb, Asian? Gay? The real police are trying to recruit ethnically diverse Australian, but there’s no way that will happen on John Holmes watch. That’s why we’re loving Masterchef – that group of people looks like us. This group of people looks like we used to look 30 years ago – that’s one of the reasons why it feels so old fashioned.

  5. Well I hope he doesn’t get too comfortable, as with sliding viewing figures, Seven’s lack of interest in scheduling and a reduced episode order for season four I can’t see City Homicide lasting.

  6. I wonder how many stock shots of the outside of “Police HQ” – the AMP buildings in William St in Melbourne – are going to be used, since they’ve been renovating the entire complex and as a result, blocking off the entire plaza in front of “HQ”.

I suspect the City Homicide cops might be moving to new digs for the third time this season 😉

  7. These homicide detectives seem to be getting the job straight from school these days. Shouldn’t he have a few years in unform first? And how come they always look like part-time models?
