Bumped: Anna Pihl

SBS changes times for one of the its few foreign-language shows screening in primetime.

It’s not too often that SBS moves its progamming around, but today it has announced Danish drama Anna Pihl will be moving slots.

The police drama had been airing at 8:30pm Wednesdays.

From October 27 it moves to 10:05pm, to be replaced by repeats of Inside the Seven Wonders of the Muslim World. A week later Inside the Saudi Kingdom airs at 8:30pm.

As a result the 10pm Movie: Un Secret is now out on October 27.

Of some concern is the point that Anna Pihl is one of the few foreign-language shows that SBS has been screening in prime time on SBS ONE.

  1. I too was so disappointed with the moving of Anna Pihl. Like Unit One and the Eagle, Danish shows are just so superior to other shows of a similar genre – just wish they were as prolific as the garbage from the USA. I watch SBS for quality – clearly they are no longer recognising this attribute.

  2. I was hooked on Anna Pihl (and I haven’t been hooked on a series for years!) and then you bumped it to later and then later again and I can’t record. I managed to buy the Series 2 DVD over Christmas, which was excellent. Hope you can run Series 3 back at original time slot of 8:30pm!

  3. I contacted SBS about Anna Pihl and some dumb person replyed saying the serial was not popular and to violent to be put on earlier
SBS needs a new staff programer, and will now loose support of it TV shows in Australia
wake upbefore it is to late!

  4. I was disapppointed when Anna Pihl was suddenly dropped from the 8.30pm time slot as I loved it and had grown fond of the character’s and was following the plot. It is a really well written drama offering a fascinating insight into life and culture in Denmark. SBS, why build it up as a good show and get viewers following it only to bump it off or put it on at a late hour inconvenient to many of us. Please reschedule it back to original 8.30pm time slot and resume from where we left off. Thankyou

  5. Why won’t they listen to viewers and bring back Anna Pihl and other good foreign dramas to decent time slots? Maybe SBS doesn’t want viewers. You would think that research and audience/market would be a prime business consideration yet in this case logic doesn’t seem to prevail.

    Please bring back Anna Pihl.

  6. This is my very favourite show, the only one I tape religiously every week and can’t wait to watch. I think the acting is superior, the plot exciting and Anna is a fantastic role model of mother and damn good police woman. I am impressed at the way the Danish series treats women, there’s a different feel to it than other shows and I love the personal stories, an insight into the Danish society. Please show series three, I am sure there are more people interested in watching this show than you think. I too am not interested in watching any of the other programs you’ve replaced Anna Pihl with, bring her back!!

  7. I, too, am disappointed that the third series of this very interesting show is not starting this week. I can’t understand the ‘dud’ label at all. ‘Anna Pihl’ is really riveting, the plot lines, the characters, everything. It is a bit of a soap, I know, because of an emphasis on the personal lives of the characters, but there is nothing wrong with that. I am especially impressed at how well everyone treats each other. There is no pulling of rank among the police officers as there was on ‘The Bill’. And the language is wonderful! SBS, please let us watch the third series.
