Bumped: Damage Control

Seven has moved quickly on new observational series Damage Control, narrated and produced by Russell Crowe.

So many puns I am resisting on this one….

Seven has moved quickly on new observational series Damage Control, narrated and produced by Russell Crowe.

On Wednesday in pulled just 375,000 viewers at 10pm. Highway Patrol at 9:30pm was 724,000 so it was a drop of almost 50%.

Yesterday Seven sought to put a positive spin on the show moving to 7mate from Sunday October 31, describing it as “a gripping new series.”

“Seven Moves Damage Control to Earlier Timeslot on 7mate” declared a Press Release.

The show will air on 7mate from 8.30pm, Sunday October 31.

Highway Patrol will now air as double episodes from next week.

  1. I thought it was reasonably interesting, if a bit shallow, but what were Seven expecting? You can’t give a graveyard slot to a new series and expect it to rate its pants off.

  2. It was never going to find a huge audience as the concept is a niche one that does not have broad audience appeal – sports injuries. It is the sort of thing I’d expect to see on the Discovery Channel or Lifestyle. It will work better on 7mate.

  3. I guess as more shows are moved to the HD channels (not just on Seven) then more people will miss out on them unless they have a HD box, I’ve been resisting replacing my LG (with only an SD tuner) but it’s looking more and more like I’ll have to do it sooner rather than later.

  4. This was the most boring piece of television I’ve seen in a while. Also just a quick side note, why are Seven wasting Highway Patrol in a 9.30pm timeslot. Didn’t it do pretty good figures at an earlier time. This may sound a bit crazy but perhaps they could move HP to 8.30pm and start City Homicide at 9pm.
