No more Where Are They Now?, next week RPA returns to its normal format on Nine for its 17th series.
Set at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney, it is again narrated by Australian actor and artist, Max Cullen.
In the first episode of the new series viewers will be inspired by the bravery of four patients being treated by the dedicated staff of RPA, who will captivate you with their stories from the emergency ward through to surgery and recovery.
Renee
When Renee knocked herself unconscious while skiing last winter, the young mother of two could not have predicted what would happen next. A follow-up scan revealed a large mass in her brain. In part one of her extraordinary story, Renee is told that she will need major brain surgery – and won’t know what she is dealing with until after the operation.
Van
Energetic and active, 86-year-old Van lives to dance but his ballroom prowess is under threat since breaking his hip in a fall. His only chance of returning to the dance floor is a hip replacement – a risky operation at his age and with his record of previous surgery.
Helen
Helen arrived at RPA by ambulance with a life-threatening heart rate of 210 beats per minute. After first being prescribed medication to treat an electrical problem in her heart, her doctor decides that with a heartbeat that fast, surgery is the best option.
Lauren
Lauren, a 12-year-old taekwondo champion, arrived in Emergency with bruising and a suspected fracture after being kicked in the leg in a tournament. Is this the end of her quest for a black belt?
It returns on Wednesday, May 4, at 8.30pm.

I agree Ron, Should be a similar demographic watching both RPA and Big. A good line-up for those into reality tv and health
Good. I’m sure some of the ‘Where are they now?’ segments were on the last series of ‘Where are they now?’
The premiere of Nine’s new series Big follows this, which is a good match think. Should retain most of RPA’s audience.
Thats a Great Show!
