The Amazing Race Australia cast

Updated: Check out the first photo of the full cast of The Amazing Race Australia, snapped on the field of the MCG.

Seven has revealed its first photo of the full cast of The Amazing Race Australia.

Snapped on the field of the MCG, where the race began last year, the teams are Chris & Anastasia, Anne-Marie & Tracy, Dave & Kelly, Jeff & Luke, Mo & Mos, Sam & Renae, Nathan & Tyler, Richard & Joey, Tom & Matt, Liberty & Ryot, Alana & Mel.

In true TAR style, they are dressed in matching or ‘team-defining’ attire -including what looks like our own cowboys, er, jackaroos (update: farmers).

With over 40,000 applications the show promises to be one of Seven’s most anticipated series this year.

There’s no airdate just yet, but a “Coming Soon” suggests it could be due next month when the current US series ends.

The show is hosted by Grant Bowler.

  1. Chris is a sexist pig…………!!!!!
I would be ashamed if i were his parents, his mother has raised
a terrible young man, that has no idea how to treat or speak to a woman.
    Shame.

  2. @Geoff

Ah, I wouldn’t call Rebel Wilson a D-grade celebrity anymore. She’s in 5 US films coming out in the next 12 months. Just because she’s disappeared from Australia doesn’t mean she wasn’t working!

But also to the other posters – it is deliberate that some teams were ‘cast’ in this season and are pawns for the producers to play with (mixed in with ‘real’ contestants) – from my knowledge about 5 of the teams were ‘cast’ and not through application. US reality shows do this most of the time so that there’s more interesting ‘characters’ in the show.

  3. The real question is whether it’ll be the guy in the yellow shirt or the guy in the orange shirt that is this season’s token overcompetitive white guy that yells at his wife when things get hectic.

  4. @ Richard W,

You do realise we’re talking about a television show yes? It’s about finding the right contestants to have an entertaining show, not about making sure Bogan “Bruce & Barry” from Blacktown get to finally leave Western Sydney.

Models are attractive and quite known for stupid comments which makes them great contestants. Plus who cares if Rebel Wilson (a D-Grade celeb in her own right)’s brother and sister competes?

Even if it is true, it just means they are more likely to be able to give entertaining dialogue to go along with the show. Who wants to see boring, yet “good” contestants on The Amazing Race anyway?

That’s why in recent seasons of the American one we’ve seen more “useless” familes who in no way would be able to compete with the likes of Tyler & James in Season 10 or the teams of BJ & Tyler & Eric & Jeremy in Season 9.

  5. I can’t wait.

And I also can’t help it, I’m writing some of them off already. The mums in the back row don’t look too fit . . . wonder if there’s any running required? Nah, she’ll be right.

  6. @roaringdave: We have 2 sets of models (ex Miss Australia contestants) plus male model who is dating Erin McNaught. Brother and sister of Rebel Wilson (alleged). Couple who have written kids health books and appeared on morning TV. Okay not very famous, but it can’t be just on luck that these people got the nod over “Bruce and Barry” from Blacktown, you know what I mean?

  7. Full credit to Channel 7 – early signs are they’ve made every effort to make this a winner. At least they’re not copying another channel’s show for this one. 😉
