RPA revisits Gavin who, after finding a melanoma under his fingernail, is faced with the prospect that surgery to remove part of his finger might not be enough to keep him alive. Three new patients also appear in this episode to share their life-changing medical stories.

Chris
Chris, 27, has been battling chronic liver disease for more than a decade. Recently her condition deteriorated to the point where her only chance of survival is a liver transplant. In part one of this brave mother’s story, Chris learns that being on the transplant list is no guarantee she will be given a lifeline.

Gavin
Gavin, 39, hit his little finger with a hammer at work and when it wouldn’t heal he went to the doctor. To his horror, he is told he has a melanoma under his fingernail and there is no alternative to losing part of his finger. But is amputation enough to keep him alive?

Girolamo
Girolamo, 79, has a 5.5cm aneurism in his stomach which could rupture without warning and kill him instantly. He faces major surgery to have it repaired and all goes to plan. But within hours he is raced back to the operating theatre with a mysterious and life-threatening complication.

Wayne
Wayne, an 18-year-old removalist, is rushed to RPA Emergency after being pinned inside his truck by shelving. He suffers deep cuts and doctors become concerned when they suspect he has also sustained a serious head injury.

It airs Wednesday, May 18, at 8.30pm on Channel Nine.

  1. I agree with Kezza, we should have the opportunity to watch the show on the web when there is a good reason you are not able to watch on TV at that time, its not because another show is on the other channel if so you would tape one of them, its because of committment of work and don’t have anyone to tape it for you or a machine to do it yourself

  2. I would like to know how the 79 year old man Girolamo was found to have a 5.5cm aneurism in his stomach did Girolamo have a MRI test on his back or hip to find this problem. when I was watching the show you only seen his daughter say that her father has had a lot of test and suffers from back pain and a sore bum check also short of breath. Please email some information
    Thank you Janelle
