More Big Brother rumours

TEN makes noises that it might like to revive Big Brother, but wonders whether audiences have moved on.

In April this site asked whether it was time to relaunch Big Brother on a digital channel such as ELEVEN.

Now there are media reports saying it is under consideration by TEN. But it’s by no means a certainty just yet.

“We’ve looked at Big Brother. I think audiences have moved on to some degree,” David Mott has told News Limited.
“It’s a summer show for CBS, it doesn’t play in the heart of the ratings season but it’s done a pretty good job for them.

“All broadcasters have looked at it. It’s extremely expensive because the house no longer exists.

“(But) it’s not whether we’re financially able to do it, it’s whether tonally it’s right for audiences now.

“It only finished up three years ago and in some respects audiences have moved on.”

  1. As a social experiment it would be great just get some plain average looking people and no future Zoo/FHM/Ralph cover girls either
Hopefully it will get Dave Hughes off the air and i’m cool with that

  2. I find it laughable that it has even been suggested to bring this celluloid fodder back on the air!! It’s blatant rubbish which corrupts the minds of young impressionable viewers!! It’s premiscuous soft porn with much immature anti social behaviour !!! It is soft porn, obnoxious and totally not suitable for anybody with an ounce of intelligence.Leave Big Brother where it currently is….as a distant bad memory…..

  3. I haven’t moved on. I would actually think of applying for it now i’m old enough too.

But i would love to watch it again minus Kyle and Jackie O and if they bring back the Adults only.

  4. I’d love them to bring BB back on Eleven… and I totally agree that the rise of social media (Twitter in particular) would add a new dimension.

Unfortunately the response from David Mott suggests a return is unlikely.

I hope he reads the feedback here tho – there are plenty of great suggestions posted above on how a renewed BB could be improved.

I’d add: please move it out of Dreamworld. And run the show in summer.

  5. Thanks Goonies…it was me who suggested Ruby Rose – purely due to the fact that for it to be successful it would need someone that is “in” with the MTV generation. I can’t think of anyone else. Oh and I’m not into self flagellation. Smiles…

  6. Well, I say look here, this page has already scored more comments than any other article in the last couple of days. There are still people who would love to see the return of Big Brother.

  7. I wouldn’t mind it back.
Some seasons were entertaining, and while it is at times low-brow, I’d rather Big Brother than Masterchef right now.

  8. Mike Goldman as host and all will be right.

I don’t agree with that people have moved on, I think even more people will watch it this time around plus it will be very good for channel 11 and late night tv for channel 10.

  9. “(But) it’s not whether we’re financially able to do it, it’s whether tonally it’s right for audiences now”. Actually it is about money Network Ten used to be financially better about 5 years ago. Now its not the case anyway Big Brother if its going to be expensive will not be on Network Ten or any of its channels, atleast the Australian version wont, i say this because Lachlan Murdoch and the rest of the Ten board will not allow it to happen. Lachlan has said it himself that his aim is to cut costs and improve profits at the Network, i am paraphrasing. I dont think Big Brother or any expensive show or sport is in the Networks interests.

  10. Seriously who needs Big Brother. They should go about attacking the youth and twenty something market in a different way.

If anyone wants to see Bogans badly behaving just go to a football match or visit the shopping mall in the worst part of your hometown on late night shopping nights.I used to see a lot of that up at Elizabeth a long time ago to the point I switched to going into Norwood or Burnside Village just to avoid all those to the rest of society but seen as top blokes by their mates.

In an Ideal World I would have all the bogans blown up by Al Qaeda Terrorists.

  11. Bring it back! What destroyed the last season was, crap hosts and crap housemates. Who wants a housemate over the age of 50 in there!? :S
The look of the house was crap too

  12. I would Love to see BB back on our screens. It was great in its heyday, and really only went pear-shaped when they stopped bringing in diverse and interesting housemates and kept stockin the house with the standard swimsuit models and muscle-flexing jocks….that’s when it lost it’s integrity and really spiralled downwards.
Bring it back for sure – but this time lets leave the empty-headed plastic people out of it and put it real people, with substance and stories.

  13. I haven’t moved on either. What I did move on from, was, as someone else so eloquently put it, the ‘douche bag casting’.

Surely everyone that auditions is not some try hard loser with fake boobies, fake tans, egos the size of Texas, with a borderline alcohol problem and the desire to have sex with anything that has a pulse!!

Don’t aim it at the tween market either. Not fussed about Gretel, her head got a bit big toward the end of the series IMO.

Kyle and Jackie O should not even be allowed within 50m of a tv studio and whoever suggested Ruby Rose needs to go and whip themself very hard. She is the epitomy of a try hard.

  14. like the bring back big brother facebook page i have done it and i encourage all other fans to do so

bring back BB with the following changes

build a new house on a different location dreamworld dont deserve it after the way they have destroyed the house go to you tube type in big brother house australia and watch the video big brother australia and you will see the house is stuffed thanks dreamworld warning to die hard fans like myself this video is actually a bit depressing when you see how bad the house really is

make the following changes to the format

1 spread it across the main and digital channels the evictions daily and uplate show on ten all other shows on eleven

2 have several different type of shows like a daily show uplate friday night live nominations

    3 bring back gretel

4 dont waste money on celebrities like carson pamela etc invest that money on making the show better

5 combine it with social media ie facebook twitter and have live streaming avalibile world wide on the net one free serivice and a low charge service for a unlimited streaming acessabile on both computers and iphones

do the above and it may well be a sucess
