Ready, Steady, Cook fans already miss Peter Everett

Some TEN viewers got a bit of a shock yesterday when new episodes of Ready, Steady, Cook aired, but without host Peter Everett.

Some TEN viewers got a bit of a shock yesterday when fresh episodes of Ready, Steady, Cook with new host Colin Lane hit the screens.

Maybe they hadn’t heard he was replacing Peter Everett.

A wave of comments hit TV Tonight yesterday afternoon, almost all of which were upset that Everett would no longer be appearing on the popular show.

Many of them let fly at TEN:

Liz: Sorry to see you go Pete, loved the show because you were in it. Not the same without you, always looked forward to your happy, genuine self. Channel 10… not happy!

Penny: Very shocked that Peter would not be hosting anymore, my 14 month old daughter loved ready steady cook, once it came on today and she didn’t see Peter on the screen she was not interested anymore and turned away. Peter was the show, and its boring now!

Lynette: I love Peter & the show but without Peter I am not interested in watching anymore, he made the show. So sad. Good luck Peter for your future.

Beatrice Timmis: i love ready steady cook but peter everett was the show i watched it every day i loved it from the moment it started till it finished sorry but i will not watch it any more even for the reciepes i will continue to buy the book why do you do things like that i dont know

Lorraine Usher: Cannot believe that channel 10 has parted ways with Peter Everett, lost a viewer with this household….

Sacha Haddad: OMG he will bemissed i definetly won’t be watching the show anymore. He was so easy going and funny.

Kay Warrop: After watching the first edition of Ready Steady Cook with new hoast I was very dissapointed as Peter Everett really made the show so now you have not only lost a veiwer for this show but for other shows as well. Hope he comes back with another channel.

Belinda Smith: Bring back Pete! The show sucks without him.

Sharon n: Bring back Peter Everett. I like Colin lane but the show is not the same not sure if I will continue to watch.

Bring Back Peter Everett he was the life of that show. Channel ten you are gone gone gone.

Hilary Bell: Oh, no, only 20 minutes into the new show and Colin Lane looks like a duck out of water. He spends more time looking at the camera than at what is being cooked. Please bring back Peter Everett – a delightful man who drove the chefs crazy on occasions but had a delightful personality with lots of hugs (and self deprecation so often) but he was really interested in what was going on and added so much fun to the show.

But some were glad to see him replaced with Lane:

Sharon: My husband and I both agree that peter Everett was so inappropriate with contestants and chefs alike, we are glad he is gone and hope that the series keeps going with the new host as we do like the show.

  1. Turned on tv this arvo and thought I’d watch Ready, Steady, Cook as it’s been a while since. I thought who is this host he’s a bit boring, hmmm must be a temp fill in whilst Peter Everett is on leave. Curiousity got the better of me so I googled ‘Where’s Peter Everett.’ Channel 10 you’ve got a bloody nerve replacing Peter Everett. I’ve always thought he was a bit of a d***, getting in the chefs/ contestants way, his obvious lack of cooking knowledge and his verbal slips. As of today I now know that this show was always secretly called “Cooking with Peter Everett”
    The reason for this shows existence is no longer on air. There’s no reason for me to watch the show. Channel 10 please bring back Peter Everett. Return the show to it’s rightful host………pleeeeeeeeease!!!

  2. How Boring is the show now that Peter is gone! Lighten up people with “Peter was inappropriate, kissing and hugging chefs” why does your mind go to the gutter as soon as a man hugs another man? You’ve lost another viewer ch 10!

  6. I enjoyed watching Peter. He was crazy and doing silly things all the time but it was funny. Colin to me is trying to be just like Peter. He tries to sound and be like him. It’s like a try hard attempt

  7. OMG!! Where’s my breathy friend Peter Everett? I used to tune into the show to watch his self deprecating antics. Why replace someone who was clearly keeping the show rating? I mainly watch channel 10 but now need to find something else to fill the 2pm time slot.

    I don’t watch daytime tv – but see the show on Fridays – and despite my non-enjoyment of cooking shows I came to adore Ready Steady Cook really mostly because of You! You always made me laugh – you had what it takes to make a cooking show fun and accessible -and unlike the pompous cooking shows that really do take themselves far too seriously – made me want to have fun in the kitchen and if it was a bit stuffed up – that is fine too – you have a wonderful wonderful personality – don’t know what was behind the scenes – Love Colin Lane but am saddened he is not doing what he should (not this) and saddened you are not on my screen – always wanted to be at one of your dinner parties and would be more than honoured to make custard for you any time – you gave me a lot of joy in your time on the show – you are lovely and funny – thanks for the memories as they say! xxxxj9

  10. absolutley disgusting, channel ten what the hell are thinking getting rid of Pete on Ready Steady Cook, he made the show, he bought laughter and happiness into so many peoples lives, Colin thinks he is a comedian but he is as dull as dishwater, Pete was a comedian whithout meaning to be, he was brialliant, Won”t be watching anymore, most viewers think the same, get your act together channel ten!

  13. I for one am happy to see the back of Peter Everet. I liked the show much more when Nick Stratford hosted it in the first year. When Pete came from Nine and was given the hosting role of the show i quickly found him irritating, thank god iam at Uni now where i dont have to listen or watch his hosting. Peter Everet belongs on play school mainly because of the tone of his voice and always talking to the viewers at home as if they were pre-schoolers. (I am aware that i have posted a comment about a tv personality i cant stand but i have that right, to have my opinion heard so dont start commenting on the fact i should not be commenting on just because i have a negative view of him)

  14. Wow I was shocked to turn on Ready Steady Cook and find a new host. What have they done with Peter Everett? Only reason I watched the show. He was the show.

  15. My husnband have watched ready steady cook for years with Peter Everette and it was a lot of fun and we have learn’t heaps of cooking things and skills. Your new person Colin Lane, what a joke-got us. Will never watch your show again while in on it. He is an insult to Channel 10 as this show has been so good and Peter is a fun guy. Sorry just lost viewers and we would suspect many more. Good luck as Colin Lane a joke to the channel. Best regards Michelle

  16. Peter Everett is sadly missed, his jovial style made RSC. If channel 10 can’t get rid of Colin Lane then at least make him get rid of the arrh’s and umm’s they are sooooo annoying.

  19. Sorry to see you go pete, as you can see by the comments you were very well loved,shame on you channel ten, always thought you were there for the audience seems not, so therefore, wont be watching the show anymore, see how it works now 10

  20. What on earth would make Peter leave Ready Steady Cook? The show as a show was just like any other cooking show (which is what it is not) was made so individual by the wonderful Peter Everett. He was the show! He was why I watched it so loyally. I can’t be bothered with it now at all. By the way .. this is nothing personal against the Chefs or Colin Lane.

  21. I loved Peter. I just can’t watch anymore. He had a lovely spirit. I’m disappointed. Nothing against the new guy, I just loved Peter 🙁

  22. I watched the past few days….turned if off about 10 minutes in today….just found I was struggling to enjoy it….
    Will probably try again as there is nothing much else on at that time…..?!?!

    Not watching RSC anymore. Peter really did make the show.

  25. I have a full life, know what our stupid government are doing & engage with local issues. Have casual work which means i`m up at 3.45 am so if i feel i need a little sit for .5 hr, it was RSC i watched & only that & i thought Pete E was funny & suited the show, I dont watch anymore as the new guy ust ain’t right!!!!!Why try and fix something if it aint broken?
