The records have been tumbling on multichannels.

Just days after GO! sets a channel share record on Saturday night of 10.0%, now Wimbledon has broken the record with total viewers.

Bernard Tomic’s loss to world No. 2 Novak Djokovic averaged 718,000 viewers, better than the previous high for the Royal Wedding (519,000).

It peaked at 909,000.

7TWO managed an impressive 8.0% share for the night.

In total the telecasts of 7TWO and Seven had a reach of more than 2 million viewers for the match.

  1. yes the coverage has been good- and well done 7 for using 7 two- but when tomic finished the other night it was the start of the final set between federer and tsonga and 7 could not show it- so while we watched a replay of a doubles match one huge upset and brilliant match was been played on centre court live and we could not watch- so this has to be sorted out with foxtel…..

  2. I’ve been happy to give Seven a heap of flack in the past for the way they cover most sporting events (particularly into Perth), but this Wimbledon coverage is absolutely the best they’ve ever done. Tremendous work by all involved, and they’ve clearly been rewarded quite handsomely by Tomic’s awesome run. Well done.

  3. Agree with what’s been said. Good job Seven with the Wimbledon coverage. It’s been great. Now let’s hope we get Australian Open live in Adelaide next year.

  4. Top work 7, have enjoyed the coverage…. and they are using Multi channels the right way… just hope they get plenty of AFL on 7Mate HD next year…

  5. I’ve notice Seven is making the most of the multi channel world we now live in, cross advertising and promoting. Nine is doing more by advertising Nine shows on the other channels, I’d say TEN does the least when it comes to promoting ONE and ELEVEN. ABC and SBS do a fare bit of cross promotion.

The tennis has been done the right way on Seven, in previous years we’d either have it late in the night or regular programs sacrificed for the duration.

Just like TEN/ONE is now doing with the AFL it is about time the different channels were used to the full advantage.

  6. The coverage has been brilliant! As I am living in Perth, I no longer have to wait until 11.30pm for Wimbledon. Hope they do the same thing for the Australian Open come January.

  7. Living in Perth, it has been a refreshing change to see that Channel 7 are showing this live. I am very grateful for what has been an excellent coverage of live sport.

  8. Seven should be celebrating. By far this has been the best fta coverage of a tennis grand slam other than the aus open. I hope seven can hat the rights for the French and us open. Woodbridge has been a great host. And the coverage has shown how to use the mega wall concept properly.

  9. 7TWO’s 8% share last night is actually the channel’s second highest audience share. Its highest ever share was 8.4%, recorded last year.
