Next week the Today show heads to NYC, broadcasting live from the Good Morning America studios on Times Square.

And they have assembled a killer line up of celebs including Alicia Keys and Beyonce in performance, plus guests Tony Bennett, Kim Kardashian, The Trumps, and Sesame Street characters.

The show is also trumpeting wins on the East Coast against Sunrise. Here is their Press Release:

The TODAY Show is now the number one breakfast TV show up and down the Australian east coast.

The show has won 23 of the 40 survey weeks in 2011, giving it an unbeatable lead over Sunrise.

This year TODAY has won Melbourne for the fourth year in a row, Sydney for the first time in eight years, and now the East Coast for the first time in nine years.

TODAY Executive Producer Tom Malone says: “We’re very grateful to our loyal audience and our new viewers for making us the most watched breakfast television show on the East Coast.

“It’s something we’ve been striving for, for several years and we’re humbled by it.

“But the job’s never done – we’ll keep producing the best possible television: first and accurate for news and entertainment.”

Next week, the TODAY team heads to New York City for a huge week of shows.

Broadcasting live from the Good Morning America studios on Times Square, the show will feature performances from Alicia Keys and Beyonce, and special guests Tony Bennett, Kim Kardashian, The Trumps, your favourite Sesame Street characters, and plenty more surprises.

Karl Stefanovic is especially happy about the trip: “They say it’s the city that never sleeps, and I’ve promised Lisa I’m going to test that theory for the whole week!”

Monday October 10-16 on Channel Nine.

  1. This was Sunrise’s idea first, they announced that they were going to do shows from NBC Today studio’s and then Today go and do this. I bet they wanted to be first to do it so that it would look like sunrise copied. This is why I hate Channel 9 and Today.

  2. Nobody in Aus cares about this trashy Kardashian family.
As for The Trumps, that’ll just be a cross promotion for Celebrity Appentice [minus any actual celebs]

  3. Michael Pell over at Sunrise should be worried. And Today managed to gazump them with the NYC broadcast idea which was originally floated by Pell. The ‘Sunrise Festival of Music’ is looking weak in comparison.

  4. “your favourite Sesame Street characters,”
So there is going to be a muppet on the Today show when they are in NYC next week… but isn’t there one on there everyday sitting next to Lisa !!!
