Axed: Slide Show

Without Slide Show and Million Dollar Minute is Grant Denyer now without a show?

2014-02-09_0130No chance of a return for SlideShow on Seven this year with confirmation today the show has not been renewed.

The confirmation means host Grant Denyer is now without a show, after quitting Million Dollar Minute in December and was replaced by Simon Reeve.

The Sunday Telegraph speculates his future at Seven is unclear, alleging he may be out of favour due to “bizarre antics and backstage tantrums.”

An earlier press interview in which he said he “never, ever wanted to be a game show host” is also said to have disappointed execs.

Last month TV Tonight readers voted him “Most Over Exposed” personality of 2013.

This weekend Denyer returns to competitive racing in a Ford Focus GTC Touring car at Bathurst, for the first time since 2011.

“I have been living in Bathurst for most of the last 4 weeks, and running the Mountain every day,” he said. “I havenÂ’t driven competitively for a number of years, however have done plenty of laps around here, and feeling pretty fit, so I am pumped about the opportunity to do another long distance event in such a unique Australian built car,”” he said.

  1. I think he’s been typecast at Channel 7 to a large degree also, and that’s a large part of the image issue. There must be some motorsport gigs at Fox/Ch10 in 2015 which would suit him better than the fluffy work he’s had for many years at 7.

  2. @Mac

What a nice and refreshing comment.
There’s more to TV personalities than what we see on air.
Whilst I’ve never been a fan of Grant’s, it’s important to remember that he’s as human as the rest of us.

  3. Also I’m glad he’s not returning on tv let’s hope we don’t get to see him back on our screens he was very annoying and painful to watch. I think he’s time is done don’t ch7 realise Grant Denyer=no ratings.

  4. I don’t want to kick Grant Denyer while he’s down, but Million Dollar Minute is so much better with Simon Reeve hosting. I didn’t mind Denyer as a weather man, but anything else he’s done has annoyed me.

  5. I suspect Denyer is a bit of a lost soul at the mo’. Seems like he doesn’t know where he wants to be. I think he’s a likeable bloke so hope he finds his place again.

  6. Poor Grant. Such a petty thing for the bosses to do (if the claims are true). I’m not Denyer’s biggest fan but he shouldn’t be penalised for being honest, and the comment was pretty harmless too.

  7. I would never watch a reality show or a quiz show, but just his time as a weather man made me want to throw something at the television. He is probably the most ingratiating Tv personality I have ever encountered and I think Seven may have worked that out putting in a more mature, more ‘real” female presenter, even though I still think James Tobin is the best of all of them and could never understand why he didnt replace Denyer. Tobin manages to make the ‘happy chappy” weather guy bearable.
