A former Masterchef Australia contestant is facing a lawsuit in the US, accused of embezzling more than $US7 million ($7.57 million) from his own company.
Aaron Thomas, 26, appeared in the 2009Â Masterchef season won by Julie Goodwin, but was eliminated in the sixth week. At the time he appeared as a 21 year old student.
Fairfax reports he founded Oakmont Resources, a mining company which owns iron ore operations in Brazil, in the United Kingdom in 2010. Oakmont filed a lawsuit against Thomas, who was sacked as its CEO earlier this year, in the Manhattan Supreme Court.
The lawsuit claims a string of “widespread pattern of misappropriation” of funds transferred to his personal accounts and to family and friends.
Thomas told The New York Post he was planning to file a countersuit.

This is true. But isn’t that the beauty of television? ;p
Argh That face. Such smugness, I hated this contestant in Season 1 his face still makes me want to slap him.
Hate is such a strong emotion for light entertainment. The Off button is probably less harmful.
