Oops. Big Bash cricketer has a dig at delayed TEN coverage.

Video: Be careful what you ask your cricketers on air. They just might give you an unfiltered opinion.

Brisbane Heat batsman Chris Lynn was asked on air during the Big Bash about trying new tactics to improve his team’s fortune.

But the answer was probably not the one TEN’s commentators expected.

Lyyn agreed the team would have to dig deep, but that wasn’t is only observation.

“We’re going to need something …. otherwise we might only see the one positive out of the delayed coverage for the Queensland viewers,” he replied.

After that he was quickly wrapped up…

Meanwhile on Nine’s cricket coverage, Australian captain Steve Smith was so distracted by the wires of Nine’s aerial spidercam that he dropped a ball.

According to Fairfax, after the ball slipped through his hands, Smith pointed skywards and mouthed: “F—ing wire.”

2015-01-09_0128“I think it gives great vision for the people at home and the entertainment throughout the day. We have just got to make sure it’s positioned right and on that particular occasion it was probably in the wrong spot,” Lehmann said, adding that it should be positioned out of the way at deep cover.

“I’m sure CA and Channel Nine will work that out and get it better.”

  1. @Ruddeger – just caught up on that. Outrageous behaviour by Ten which only serves to compound their apparent disregard for QLD viewers. Time to vote with the remote.

  2. Unbelievable,Chris Lynn has been forced to apologise to Ten after Ten management [the inmates at the asylum] complained to Cricket Australia about his comments.

    Poor form Ten.

  3. @Craig – V8 drivers wouldn’t be able to. Because Fox Sports has live coverage, they will risk losing their seat for the season, what is been done is don with the TV rights as there is nothing we can do and also they wouldn’t be able to talk to the commentators or even put on air because even if they did say it it will be blurred out

  4. Love it, now I wonder if a V8 driver is going to mention that some of the Supercar rounds this year won’t be shown live on FTA. TEN has been very cagey with their adverts so far promoting their motor racing coverage in 2015.

  5. As i have said in previous posts Network TEN are run by a batch of idiots, they spend money on aquiring the rights to BBL and now they stuff it up they have wasted money, That Debt faciliity is growing and will continue to grow. These stuffups are the reason why TEN is in trouble and why advertisers are paying less for ads on TEN.

  6. Such is the versatility of the multichannels when used to their full ability, there was a couple of instances last year where a live ch7 AFL game was airing the same time as another live AFL game on 7mate. They only overlapped for a short time but I was impressed. It should happen more often.

  7. Many Perth viewers watching that game wouldn’t know that other states are getting BB delayed. Here we really benefit a lot with our timezone and the multi channels with every Big Bash game live on One then delayed on Ten later in the night. Also a lot of AFL on 7mate and all NRL on GEM to top it off. Ten really need to get it live in every state if not on Ten then One.

  8. Its a bit strange that they showed the Adelaide game on Tuesday live into Adelaide (not airing the Project into Ade that night) but didn’t do the same for the Brisbane game into Brisbane. The only difference I can see is that they would have had to not air Family Feud on their main channel as well (but still on 11 and one).

  9. He makes a good point and good on him for trying send the message through but he has to be careful not to bite the hand that feeds him. Ten are forking out $20m a season and cricket in general needs that money for the grassroots of the game so its not a good idea to potentially jeopardize that.

  10. I am still boycotting the BBL until they can give us live coverage. Not everyone lives in NSW or Vic & we should be able to watch on One.
if Ten can’t deliver live coverage give it to someone who can.

  11. Lucky the Heat should be this season’s wooden spooners – I don’t think Ten will be looking to raise the profile of any more of their players by micing them up!

  12. Good on Chris Lynn. The silence from the commentators was deafening…
In this day and age of multi channels there is no excuse for delayed coverage.
