Bear Grylls drops celebrities into Central American jungle

Celebrities doing survival missions in the jungle? But this one has Bear Grylls.

ITV, which owns the rights to I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, is set to premiere a similar concept of famous UK faces in the jungle, this time with Bear Grylls as their leader.

In Bear Grylls: Mission Survive celebs will be pushed to their physical and emotional limits as they navigate obstacles and journey through dangerous dense jungle in Central America.

The cast includes actors Emilia Fox and Laurence Fox, singer and actor Max George, double Olympic champion Dame Kelly Holmes, TV presenter and singer Jamelia, comedian Tom Rosenthal, DJ, model and presenter Vogue Williams and Former England International Rugby Player Mike Tindall.

At the end of every episode Bear will eliminate one person and at the end of the series, there will be three finalists and ultimately just one Mission Survivor.

Bear Grylls said: “This show is all about empowerment and I am so proud of how the celebrity team who joined me on Mission Survive performed. It was without doubt a tough expedition, but also a very life-enhancing adventure for everyone involved. I would set them daily survival missions and would then regularly back away, leaving them to their own devices, so that they would learn by doing it and making mistakes. That’s the source of all genuine growth in a survivor. I was looking for the qualities that a survivor in a real-life scenario most needs: positivity, resourcefulness, courage, determination, and a whole heap of bloody mindedness!”

Having watched a few eps of TEN’s format the episodes are long with too many scenes of celebrities lazing around at camp. Get them active or get me out in 30 minutes. A number of readers have mentioned the show needs to be more Survivor, less Big Brother.

Please send them on a safari to meet some wild animals, or show me some nice African scenery.

Or send them Bear Grylls.

  1. What I saw of TENs show on Friday…much of it muted….looked more like the Blue Mountains than Africa….watching it …I thought it was just a mock up…go figure…

  2. This sounds like a much better show compared to the fake one on Ten. Bear Grylls has a lot pulling power, not to mention the ladies love him. Maybe Seven or Nine will pick up a local version of this show with Bear Grylls and it’ll at least get double that of the outdoor Big Brother show. Seven destroyed Masterchef with MKR they now do the same with I’m a Celebrity.

  3. This could work here, if we can get Bear Grylls or someone similar to lead them. (The Commando from TBL perhaps?)
As for IACGMOOH, I fear there are some who went in to this expecting survivor, as it’s a different concept, I don’t think we can expect it. Although group challenges occasionally wouldn’t go astray. Can wait for mondays two intruders to go in though.
