Sports journalist Stephen Phillips, best known for AFL media coverage has died, aged 62.
He passed away in Melbourne yesterday morning following an illness.
Phillips wrote for newspapers The Sun, The Australian, The Age in the 1970s.
He then moved to Channel Seven in 1979 as a reporter and presenter as well as appearing regularly on the iconic Sunday morning TV show World of Sport.
He moved to Nine in 1986, on Wide World of Sport alongside Lou Richards.
He returned to Seven in 1991 but made his name later on as a writer and producer.
He was also a member of the MCG Media Hall of Fame and was on the selection committee for the Australian Football Hall Of Fame.

He did his job very well.Very likeable
This is sad news for 1980’s Aussie rules followers in Victoria. I thought Stephen was a quality sports journo who was not pushy, opinionated and egotistical like many sports journos of today.
