Foxtel has commissioned a one hour food special Maggie in Japan, featuring Bake Off judge, Maggie Beer.

The special from Lingo Pictures will follow the iconic cook as she explores Japanese cuisine and cooking techniques. She will travel to Japan to film the special later this year.

“I have had some of the greatest food experiences of my life in Japan,” she said. “I am fascinated by every part of their food culture where there is such pride in every person in the cycle of food at every level. It’s a truly passionate endeavour for me to discover even more and be able to share this excitement with everyone.”

General Manager of The LifeStyle Channels, Hannah Barnes, said: “Maggie has gained a whole new raft of fans following the huge success of The Great Australian Bake Off and we are thrilled to extend our relationship with her with this unique new one hour special.

Maggie in Japan is a perfect addition to the LifeStyle FOOD programming line-up, and will give our loyal audience an insight into Maggie’s passion for food.”

Maggie has a fascination for the culture and ingredients of Japan and so, with the help of both traditional chefs and the new wave, she’ll immerse herself in the local food and lives of her culinary guides.

During the programme, we’ll also get to know more about Maggie herself and why Japan has some rather unique food memories for her. For Maggie, this will be an unforgettable search for the heart of Japanese food and a passionate exploration of flavour.

Maggie in Japan will screen on LifeStyle FOOD in 2017.
