Brady Bunch renovation: “Amazing that it was done”

Brady Bunch cast say they reunited to renovate their "home" because they weren't asked to revive their characters.

Brady Bunch living legends Barry Williams (Greg), Maureen McCormick (Marcia), Christopher Knight (Peter), Eve Plumb (Jan), Mike Lookinland (Bobby) and Susan Olsen (Cindy) fronted press this week in the US ahead of A Very Brady Renovation, which premieres stateside from September 9th.

The cable series renovates the home used for original 1970s exteriors, to match the Brady interior, with cast appearing as guests throughout.

“There are so many elements that had to come together to make this thing work. It’s almost unfathomable,” Williams said. “I love these people. We’ve had great relationships our entire lives but not all together at the same time. It was crucial to have every single person on this stage in that show. Very hard to do. Amazing that it was done. It had to do with each of us understanding that this was a project we wanted to lend our time to and our efforts towards.”

Eve Plumb added, “What resonated with me the most was that it was a different take on Brady. They weren’t asking us to come back and play Brady Bunch characters again. It was, ‘Let’s explore what the house will look like if we can make it in real life.”

“We are the surviving members of the cast, and we can feel the presence of Robert Reed, Florence Henderson and Ann B. Davis in these rooms that are being created,” said Williams.

HGTV is yet to say what happens with the house now it has been completed.

Could an Aussie broadcaster please let me know when they have grabbed this show, so I can let fans know? You’re welcome.

  1. So exciting … but before it screens in Oz (fingers crossed), can someone complete the Brady timeline … because the only reunion show never to screen here was dramatic 90’s series The Bradys. It’s terrrrrrrrible (with a cameo from Prisoner’s fletch playing an “Austrian” ambassador, get it?) but true Brady fans need to see it

  2. Lovely to read an article by a fellow fan. Also lovely to see Eve and Maureen sitting next to each other, looks like they may have mended their differences.

  3. What a great story. How sad of course the three grown ups have passed away. This show defined my youth. I loved Ann. B Davis and her blue uniform and sensible shoes.

        1. Most surprising thing was she was white-most domestics were black or Hispanic in LA by the late 60’s.
One of the very last eps of the ‘X Files’ concerned the Brady House-was an interesting one too!
