10 Peach nabs Friends

Exclusive: One of the biggest sitcoms of all time will be back in a 7pm timeslot on 10 Peach.

Exclusive: How you doin’…?

10 Peach has nabbed the entire back catalogue of Friends and will return it to a 7pm timeslot.

Friends is one of the biggest nostalgia catalogues available, with the show recently the subject of a $425m switch from Netflix to HBO Max in the US.

The show was most recently screening on 9GO! while Stan has enjoyed streaming rights.

Network 10, Head of Programming, Daniel Monaghan, said: “Friends is one of the greatest sitcoms of all time and its enduring popularity makes it the perfect addition to the 10 Peach schedule. We are not ones to pass up the opportunity to showcase this classic every weeknight on free to air. Could we BE any happier!”

Friends recently marked its 25th anniversary.

It’s been a quarter of a century since we met the Friends gang and were subject to the glory that is Ross being Ross, Joey being Joey, the rollercoaster romances between Ross and Rachel, Monica and Chandler, Joey and Rachel, and the undeniable bond between Phoebe and her smelly cat.

Starting with the very first episode of the Primetime Emmy Award winning comedy, prepare to laugh, cry and appreciate how this iconic sitcom graced the box across 10 seasons, and ultimately cemented itself in television history.

Monday, 14 October at 7.00pm on 10 Peach.

  1. Yay Friends is always a good timeslot filler if you ask me. Check out ‘Burj Khalifa Friends turns 25 show’ on youtube to see how much it means to people.

  2. Massive fan, and I’m working my way through season 7, but now some of the cracks are starting to show coz there’s some uncomfortable intentional mis-gendering of Chandler’s father (who, truth be told, was never defined as trans but was always depicted in feminine form) surrounding Chandler and Monica’s wedding. Nothing really offensive, I guess the storyline was just dealing with a son’s struggle to come to terms with his father’s preferred identity. Still, the entire series still stands up to many repeated viewings.

  3. I was a massive fan of Friends during its first run. I haven’t watched many reruns as when it was on I had videos and dvds, so I pretty much watched it to death. It does seem to have captured the hearts of young people though, I guess in the same way I love sit-coms from the 60s.
I was happy about Seinfeld moving back to 10, as it was returning home. Nine has always been Friends main home, so this doesn’t meet my approval (he says tongue in cheek), but a Friends and Seinfeld pairing would be good.

  4. I watched Friends during its original run but find it hasn’t aged well, unlike MASH or Seinfeld which I often find myself watching another repeat. Maybe Friends is catching teenagers seeing it for the first time. That money recently splashed on Friends is mind-numbing.

    1. The contradiction between ‘hasn’t aged well’ and ‘maybe it’s catching the eyes of some teenagers’ bares pointing out.
And let’s not get bogged down arguing what’s better because they’re entirely different shows, but I would think given how many people watch them both that Friends and Seinfeld have both held up remarkably well.
Friends was the most watched show on Netflix years running until The Office relegated it to second place!

    1. They obviously dont have the full catologue of Seinfeld and are already in repeat mode.
I love friends but i can’t see it really helping Peach grow it’s share into 2%
Come on Peach, get Hollyoaks and another show to sandwich Neighbours

  5. Between this and Seinfield (as well as some of their other shows) – 10 Peach is really making a run to be the “comfort food” channel (Confort food being the 80s/90s sitcoms that you don’t mind chilling out and watching because it’s so familiar).
