COVID-19 reaches Big Brother episodes

Sunday is a Big Brother first as the compound goes into lockdown and shocked housemates are fully briefed.

On Sunday Big Brother‘s episode reaches the 2-day lockdown that hit the compound in March, after a crew member came into contact with someone who had tested positive for coronavirus.

This marks a Big Brother first, with filming suspended and housemates fully briefed on the changes that have impacted Australia and the world, one month after they entered the house.

Housemates know something is up when cameras begin to disappear and remote cameras stop following them around the house.

Big Brother reveals the news to shocked housemates in the Diary Room (it’s clear they were given some previous info on the growing pandemic).

Given the extreme situation, housemates are all allowed a call from family. Watching their reactions is reminiscent of BB‘s finale when housemates are always given news from outside.

As one wisely notes, “We’re probably in the safest place possible.”

Although the game was suspended remote cameras still filmed some group scenes, but the episode eventually backs into the gameplay with yet another eviction by the end. No spoilin’.

7pm Sunday on Seven.

  1. Producers: “Now guys, before we start filming, practice your shocked and upset looks for maximum impact… no, not good enough, let’s try another take… remember, you are shocked – maybe let your mouths drop open for maximum impact…”

  2. They really flubbed this. Housemates’ reactions to outside events are one of the highlights of any BB season (even the trash Ch 9 ones). The OTT dramatic promos for Sunday’s episode look even more ridiculous knowing they didn’t even film them being told. Pathetic.

  3. I am so confused as to how there is supposed to be 24 episodes as shown on New Zealand’s rating title cards. How could there possibly still be another 12 eps when they’re even doing an eviction in the coronavirus episode? It just isn’t making sense to me how they’re gonna randomly chuck in 5 non eviction episodes.

  4. If they were always planning on milking it like this, I don’t see why they decided to initially tell them about Covid with the cameras turned off.
To be honest ..that might have been the one episode I would have watched.

Maybe they just forgot to film it again 😉
