Emily VanCamp exits The Resident

Nurse Nicolette is out after 4 seasons of US medical drama.

US actress Emily VanCamp is leaving medical drama The Resident after four seasons.

VanCamp plays nurse Nicolette ‘Nic’ Nevin in the US series based at the fictional Chastain Park Memorial Hospital.

Deadline reports she asked to be released from the show at the end of last season. There was an effort to bring her back in the upcoming Season 5 — something she was reportedly open to — but it did not work out. There is still hope she may return as a guest star in the future.

Season 5 debuts in the US in late September and will screen in Australia on Seven.

  1. Another major character who’s going to be off screen. The Resident has just about run it’s course anyway, the story lines are getting strained and it’s lost it’s best characters.

  2. Well this sucks. I can’t imagine the show without her. Last year it was down to this show or Prodigal Son being renewed. If Nic is no longer in it I would have rathered they renewed Prodigal Son. She just got married & had a baby so the timing is really bad.

  3. No way she can’t leave. Conrad and Nic just had a baby together. I have watched Emily in Brothers & Sisters to Revenge and now The Resident. Claire has gone form The Good Doctor and now Nic. I wonder how they will write her out. They can’t break Nic and Conrad up.
However I have just seen on her insta she has just had a baby girl so obviously being a mother now is pretty important.

  4. What??? She’s the reason i watch and she’s the main character. What about Conrad and Nic? They got married and now this is it? The show won’t be the same 🙁
