US medical drama The Resident has been axed after six seasons.
The series, starring Matt Czuchry, Emily VanCamp & Manish Dayal, chronicled the lives and duties of the staff of the fictional Chastain Park Memorial Hospital.
Speculations about the show’s fate have been rampant ever since Season 6 finished in the US in January.
Season 6 averaged about 6.9m US viewers per episode after seven days of viewing, down 12% in comparison to Season 5 and 35% when compared to the first season.
The Resident screens in Australia on Seven, yet to screen S6.

David, is it true that Seven lost the rights after S5 and S6 screens on Disney+ ?
Only Seasons 1-5 are on Disney+ (at least in Australia)

Really loved this show but bit it started going downhill around the time Mina left and I haven’t watched any since Emily VanCamp’s character died. Might eventually get around to watching the rest.
Dam, I really enjoyed this show. Loved the cast and the storylines. What a shame.
Bugger! Didn’t mind that show. One of the better medical shows.
