Seven drops cricket commentator Michael Slater

"His contract was up and I had to make a prudent business decision," says Seven exec.

Seven has parted company with cricket commentator Michael Slater after 3 years.

He has featured in Big Bash League, Ashes Test and stripped for The All New Monty.

There were recent media reports that Seven execs were concerned over his tweets directed at PM Scott Morrison around border bans on travellers following the cancelled Indian Premier League, while he was stranded in the Maldives.

Seven Head of Sport Lewis Martin told The Australian, “It’s not related to that. His contract was up and I had to make a prudent business decision. He’s a ripping guy, a great commentator but I had to make that hard executive decision, so we are not renewing his contract.”
