Giveaway: D.I. Ray

3 x DVDs of UK crime thriller starring Parminder Nagra are up for grabs.

This Friday the TV Tonight newsletter has 3 x DVDs to give away for UK crime thriller D.I. Ray, thanks to Acorn Media.

The series, starring Parminder Nagra and produced by Jed Mercurio (Line of Duty), has just finished screening on SBS.

It is released on DVD and Digital on Wednesday July 20.

If you haven’t yet subscribed to the Friday newsletter you can do so here.

When DI Rachita Ray (Parminder Nagra; ER, Bend It Like Beckham), a British Asian policewoman new to homicide is assigned to investigate the suspected honour killing of a young Muslim man, she quickly realises the suspects can’t be guilty. The evidence against the two brothers from a British Hindu family is flimsy at best but her attempts at conveying this to her superiors and her colleagues fall on deaf ears. Hidden biases and a keenness to wrap the case up mean no one is listening to her until her probing leads the team to a much more sinister crime. As she uncovers a complex web of deceit within organised crime, she also lays bare the wounds deep within herself that she’s spent a lifetime ignoring – wounds that are born from a desperate desire to ‘fit in’, despite not looking the part.

Featuring 4 x 60 min episodes

  1. Loved Line of Duty and Vigil, both produced by Jed Mercurio!
Have taped D.I. Ray but yey to watch.
I know they are making series 2 of Vigil and there are talks of series 7 for Line of Duty.
Are there any other shows he has produced coming soon or reccommended to wat h?

    1. Another recent one is Trigger Point, featuring LoD’s Vicki McLure. Haven’t seen it as yet but the reviews I saw were not encouraging. No where near the level of LoD or Vigil.
