No Schapelle for Bachelorette

Producers rule out Schapelle Corby as a future Bachelorette starter, with celebrities not the focus of the franchise for now.

Producers have retreated on earlier comments around the idea of recently single Schapelle Corby as a possible contender for The Bachelorette.

Speaking to NOVA’s Fitzy & Wippa, Warner Bros. TV Australia Head of Development Ed Kindred toyed with the idea posed by radio hosts.

“Schapelle Corby has broken up with Ben over in Bali and looking for love. Now there have been a lot of people suggesting wouldn‘t it be great if Channel 10 could find Schapelle Corby Love?” Fitzy suggested.

“I agree … I think a lot of people would tune in,” Ed replied, asking the pair: “Do you think she’d be good on the dates?”

“And the final decision, her down to two guys, the final decision is in Kuta,” Fitzy joked.

Revealing they “hadn’t considered” Corby for the spot, Ed mused: “We’ll absolutely put that to Channel 10.”

But that appears to have been just a cheeky radio response, with Warner Bros. TV later clarifying Corby, who appeared on SAS Australia and Dancing with the Stars, is not a name they are pursuing.

Managing Director Michael Brooks told TV Tonight,”We are completely focused on creating an incredibly exciting new Bachelor format and I believe Bachelor fans are going to absolutely love it. We’ve listened to their feedback and the team has created something truly special.

“We’ve enjoyed great success having celebrities as part of the show in the past but it’s not something we’re focused on right now.”

10 is yet to renew The Bachelorette, with a revamped Bachelors due in coming weeks.

  1. I don’t think the ratings would be very good if Schapelle was The Bachelorette.
They want to change things to increase the ratings, not decrease the ratings.

I don’t know why it said that 10 is yet to renew The Bachelorette when it
has already been reported on TV Tonight that The Bachelorette won’t be on
    this year. https://tvtonight.com.au/2022/06/10-holds-off-the-bachelorette-for-2022.html

I am guessing they are testing the waters with the revamped Bachelors.
The Bachelorette would probably return next year.
