US green lights The Golden Bachelor for seniors

One hopeless romantic will be given a second chance in the search for a partner to share their sunset years.

“After more than 20 years of fostering young love on The Bachelor, The Bachelorette, and Bachelor in Paradise, The Golden Bachelor showcases a whole new kind of love story – one for the golden years,” US network ABC has announced.

The Golden Bachelor has been in the works for several years, with ABC first floating the idea during Season 24 of The Bachelor with casting ads for “seniors looking for love.”

TV has been expanding on the dating genre in recent years with shows such as Love on the Spectrum, Better Date than Never, My Mum Your Dad and I Kissed a Boy in the UK.

According to the network press release, “one hopeless romantic” will be “given a second chance at love in the search for a partner with whom to share the sunset years of life.”

“The women arriving at the mansion have a lifetime of experience, living through love, loss and laughter, hoping for a spark that ignites a future full of endless possibilities,” the release continued. “In the end, will our Golden man turn the page to start a new chapter with the woman of his dreams?”

This week 10 announced The Bachelor franchise as moving to Victoria but casting is yet to be announced.

  1. I’ve said something like this before.

Second chance bachelors(ettes in paradise), all around 40 and previously married.
A bunch of older people being sleazy and trampy, now that I’ll watch for a season.

    1. What a horrible name…sounds more like an “award”…..surely a better one…….as for older people being sleazy and trampy they could not be any weirder or OTT than younger sleazy trampy people. And I say why not….it’s betting than “seniors playing with Lego or trying to blow up balloons”. 😂
