Upcoming drama series 1923, starring Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren, will screen in December on Paramount+.

Created by Taylor Sheridan, the Yellowstone prequel introduces a new generation of Duttons.

The series will explore the early twentieth century when pandemics, historic drought, the end of Prohibition and the Great Depression all plague the mountain west, and the Duttons who call it home.

The cast also includes Brandon Sklenar (The Offer), Darren Mann (Animal Kingdom), Michelle Randolph (A Snow White Christmas), James Badge Dale (Hightown), Marley Shelton (Scream), Brian Geraghty (Big Sky), Aminah Nieves (Blueberry), Julia Schlaepfer (The Politician) and Jerome Flynn (Game of Thrones).

Produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, 101 Studios and Bosque Ranch Productions, 1923 is executive produced by Taylor Sheridan, John Linson, Art Linson, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari and Ben Richardson.

Monday, 19 December on Paramount+.

With the conclusion of 1883 the continued history of the Dutton’s looks to be in safe hands with two veteran character actors in the main role, I can only imagine that this story must have had some appeal to Harrison Ford who like Kevin Costner will welcome some less physically challenging roles. I would be interested to hear Helen Mirren’s US accent.

  2. So, by my count that’s 3 ‘Yellowstone’ spin-offs in the bag, assuming the whole Jimmy storyline gets promoted to series rather than a B-story happening halfway across the country. Is it too much of a good thing? Perhaps. But if these new shows within the “Dutton-verse” (if that phrase hasn’t been coined, I’m claiming it). My sister got me on to ‘Yellowstone’ last Christmas and I’ve really enjoyed it. A little OTT at times, but it’s got me sucked in. I can’t say I’m as excited for ‘1883’, despite the seeds being very cleverly planted in the series. And the mainline casting is the only thing drawing me in for what I presume will be — given the title — a series on John’s grandparents.

    Not sure I’m curious enough to watch the two dated spin-offs, I suppose it’s incumbent upon the forthcoming ‘Yellowstone’ season.

    1. I believe the ‘6666’ is a definite show which will explore the history of the property, which in reality is actually owned by the shows creator Taylor Sheridan who breeds horses there. Jefferson White ( Jimmy) will be a regular in the upcoming ‘Yellowstone ‘ SE05, as will his girlfriend Emily (Kathryn Kelly), so his role in the new 6666 spin-off will need to be defined.
