1923: teaser

First glimpse of new western with A-listers Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren.

A teaser trailer has now dropped for 1923, the Yellowstone prequel led by Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren.

The series will explore the early twentieth century when pandemics, historic drought, the end of Prohibition and the Great Depression all plague the mountain west, and the Duttons who call it home.

The cast also includes Brandon Sklenar (The Offer), Darren Mann (Animal Kingdom), Michelle Randolph (A Snow White Christmas), James Badge Dale (Hightown), Marley Shelton (Scream), Brian Geraghty (Big Sky), Aminah Nieves (Blueberry), Julia Schlaepfer (The Politician) and Jerome Flynn (Game of Thrones).

Produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, 101 Studios and Bosque Ranch Productions, 1923 is executive produced by Taylor Sheridan, John Linson, Art Linson, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari and Ben Richardson.

It looks like no stone will be left unturned in Taylor Sheridon’s ‘Western’ series, but I will wait for the first couple of episodes to be released before deciding if 1923 compliments 1883, which turned out to be better than I anticipated if a bit slow in places. Fast forwarding the story to 1923 is leaving out segments where Montana’s racial legislation matters could have been explored, especially the violation of the 1855 treaty obligations when the 1903 legislature prohibited the use of firearms by Indians outside of reservations. The measure was directed at the Cree Indians, who as landless refugee fragments of Plains tribes sometimes turned their attention to cattle after the Buffalo herds were decimated.
