Returning: Carols in the Domain

Natalie Barr and David Koch will host Carols in the Domain marking its 40th anniversary.

Sunrise hosts Natalie Barr and David Koch will host Carols in the Domain, returning to a full-capacity crowd for the show’s milestone 40th anniversary.

While the event will be staged in Sydney’s Domain on December 17, the broadcast will screen six days later.

Performers include The Wiggles, Samantha Jade, Leo Sayer, Mark Vincent, Todd McKenney, Rhonda Burchmore, Paulini, Lachie Gill while Andrea Bocelli will also perform via satellite with his daughter, Virginia.

David Koch said: “Carols in the Domain is a family tradition for the Koch clan and it’s always a privilege to be involved. We all have so much to celebrate and this great event brings Australians together like no other – with fun, laughter and of course, the big guy in the red suit, Santa Claus. See you there, Australia.”

Natalie Barr said: “It’s such a wonderful time of the year but especially so as we mark 40 years of Carols. My lip-synching skills are pretty good, so I’ll be singing along with performers I love like Samantha Jade, Tom Burlinson and Leo Sayer.”

Executive Producer Mark Whitmore-Beirne added: “Carols in the Domain brings so much joy to families across Australia, whether they’re singing along from home or attending our spectacular event in-person. It’s an annual event that brings together everyone from grandparents, to their children, and their children’s children – igniting the spirit of Christmas in audiences of all ages. In its 40th year, Carols in the Domain will be full of surprises and bigger and better than ever before.”

ActiveTV President and Executive Producer, Michael McKay said: “This year’s Carols is going to be our biggest show in years, packed full of unforgettable moments that are sure to bring festive cheers to Australians around the country.”

Fans attending the 17 December recording should prepare for snow, with giant snow machines to create a magical winter wonderland on the night.

VIP guests are also expected to walk the red carpet, a first for Carols, including Seven Network stars and social media favourites set to get their “glow on”.

Woolworths Carols in the Domain brings Australians together to celebrate the songs and spirit of Christmas, with the Seven Network recently signing a new three-year broadcast agreement with ActiveTV to produce and telecast the spectacular show.

The Salvation Army will again partner as the official charity, raising funds from the sale of official candle bags at the event.

And look out for the official songbook in New Idea magazine, on sale 12 December.

Woolworths Carols in the Domain is a free event (no ticket required), however, reserved seating areas are available now through www.ticketbooth.com.au

7.30pm, Friday 23 December on Seven.

  1. Nothing much for people who do not celebrate Xmas in this country for religious or other reasons but we have to still grin and bear it on FTA. Don’t get me started on all the endless Xmas cooking shows either that get an airing.

    1. This argument might have flown 10 years ago, but there are so many other options now that nobody realistically has to ‘grin and bare’ anything on FTA if they don’t want to.

      1. Unfortunately some people have no other options for entertainment other than turn it down or tune out, besides it’s always the same old same old. Bring on Hogmanay.

  2. Why aren’t they televising Carols In The Domain live again this year last year it was not broadcast live either the show is better as a live broadcast

    1. Seems like they want to air it closer to Christmas but I think it was better the weekend before. How many people want to watch carols on the TV two nights in a row?
