New Australian – UK miniseries Riptide has had its premiere in Britain where it is screening on 4 consecutive nights on Channel 5.
The co-production by Fremantle is created by Jason Herbison (Neighbours, Lie with Me) and stars Jo Joyner (EastEnders), Peter O’Brien (Darby & Joan, The Unusual Suspects), David Berry (Outlander, A Place to Call Home), Ciaran Griffiths (Coronation Street, The Bill), Pia Miranda (Wentworth, Mustangs FC, Australian Survivor), Ally Fowler (Wentworth, Neighbours) Yazeed Daher (The Heights, The Hunting), Asher Yasbincek (Heartbreak High) and Benny Turland (Neighbours).
Directed by Scott Major, the plot sees Alison’s (Joyner) life plunged into despair when her new Australian husband (O’Brien) vanishes after a morning surf. Did he get caught in a dangerous riptide, or is there more to his disappearance than meets the eye?
Riptide was filmed in Victoria in August 2022 and is expected to screen on 10 in 2023, with a date yet to be announced.

“husband (O’Brien) vanishes after a morning surf. Did he get caught in a dangerous riptide, or is there more to his disappearance than meets the eye?”. Does Normie Rowe reprise his role as Harold Holt (“The Prime Minister is Missing” TEN) and appear from a yellow submarine?
I’m enjoying watching this mini-series during the festive break.
The first 2 episodes have now aired in the UK with the final 2 eps to screen tonight and Friday.
As is often the case, the opener was something of a preamble, introducing the storyline and characters/suspects, so was a little slow, however the action really picked up in the second instalment and I’m now looking forward to the final episodes.
This looks fantastic and has to potential to be a hit but it’s going to air and get lost on unwatched Ten.
