Peter Helliar, Dicko, Liz Ellis into 10 jungle, and here comes Kerri-Anne.

KAK throws herself into 10 reality series becoming the biggest name in this year's cast.

Logie Hall of Famer Kerri-Anne Kennerley is set to switch the red carpet for camp life, joining a merry band of celebrities who were unveiled in the premiere of I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! last night.

They included  former Project comedian Peter Helliar, ex-Australian Idol judge Ian ‘Dicko’ Dickson, and netball champion Liz Ellis.

Also featuring are actor Debra Lawrance (Home & Away, Please Like Me), radio host Woody Whitelaw, reality participants Domenica Calarco (Married at First Sight), Aesha Scott (Below Deck Mediterranean) and Nathan Henru (Geordie Shore), NITV presenter Bianca Hunt, Brownlow Medalist Adam Cooney, chef Anna Polyviou (MasterChef Australia, Family Food Fight), and lightweight boxing champ Harry Garside.

The first episode included a terrifying plank wall over a dam wall and a box spewing slime.

10 managed to keep several names under wraps although it strategically confirmed KAK, Dicko, Debra, Domenica and Woody ahead of the premiere.

After years of jungle rumours, Kerri-Anne Kennerley joins camp mates tonight, albeit confirming a few TV comforts such as make-up.

This season, hosted by Julia Morris and (the final for) Dr. Chris Brown, is expected to run for 4 weeks with a winner tipped for April 30.

Continues 7:30pm tonight on 10.

  1. Why don’t they have more contestants from Survivor on this show rather than married at first sight or Love Island? They are on the same network & a much better fit. After roughing it on Survivor sleeping on the ground sleeping on a bed & being able to shower would be luxury. I’d love to see George on it. He’d definitely keep us entertained.

    1. I think I’m a Celeb relies on the celebrities winging (for lack do a better term). And the living arrangements on Celeb are much more cushy than those on Survivor (Celeb – they get army cots, a shower and a drop toilet, whereas on Survivor they sleep on a bamboo shelter they built themselves, they don’t get any showers and they don’t get a toilet facility).

Any ex-Survivor contestant would be laughing at the living standards they get on Celeb.

  2. An interesting list of names this year! I had no idea who Bianca Hunt, Aesha Scott or Nathan Henry were until I watched the show last night! I suppose that they are this year’s “D-list” celebrities?

    1. He hosted the Ch7 version of Australian Celebrity Survivor in 2006 (to anyone who says IAC’s cast is bad, I doubt anyone from 2006 knew anyone on that series, let alone now). Dicko’s hosting there was terrible, especially compared to any of Jeff (US), John (Current Aus), Nico (SA), Matt (NZ) or even Lincoln (Aus 2002)

He has also done the rounds on other Celebrity Reality Shows – I think he won Celebrity Apprentice the year after Julia Morris

  3. There’s always a handful of “stars” of whom i don’t know who they are when they enter the jungle. But they generally end up being the stars of the show and i enjoy them more than the “actual stars”. I’m hoping it will be the same this time around.

  4. Good to see KAK being on the show she will great.A radio host i don’t think so.Always gets people talking of who is chosen. But yeah the word Celebrity is very loosely used these days. Not a bad line up though

  5. Glad its started, the promos where driving me up the wall.

I tried to watch the Grand Prix between adds.

Also, don’t all the Celebs get an appearance fee, it’s a paid gig ?

  6. I don’t think we really want A-List (though it would be amusing to see Hugh Jackman or Cate Blanchett participating) but below D-list is not acceptable casting. Appearing on a reality show once does not make you a celebrity, being a long retired footballer does not make you a celebrity. For a show to use the word celebrity in its title the participants need to have a high level of name recognition if not current fame.

  7. Loved the first episode and great casting (although I’ve never heard of Bianca Hunt, Adam Cooney, Aesha Scott or Nathan Henry). Can’t wait to watch KAK show up at camp.

  8. Surprised to see Dicko And Kerrie Anne on I’m A Celebrity last night I did not see any of the advance announcements of who was going into the Jungle at all and I like it that way knowing in advance who is going into the jungle spoils the show I think

  9. I’m glad Ten have several older people and not just younger people like most reality series have. Who knows the older might teachers the younger a few tricks and vice versa. As for KAK does it really matter?, at least she is giving it a go, besides why not she might just surprise the naysayers and to be honest I hope she does shake things up.

  10. What happened to the Wallaby rugby player? Probably coming in later as an intruder? Also, the UK version of IACGMOOH starts next week in South Africa as well! Maybe they’ll have some cross promotion between the two camps? Joint activities?

    1. According to The Mirror the UK version is an All Stars and is a “spin off” hosted by Ant and Dec (a given there) and it’s in Kruger National Park starting on 24th April, so you might just be right about the cross over, who knows it might make for interesting viewing.

  11. I wouldn’t be surprised if Aesha is a breakout star from this. She has such a bubbly personality but also doesn’t take shit from anyone!

    1. I think the surprise standout could be Bianca. She’s from Yokai Footy, where Tony Armstrong was from and he made it onto ABC Breakfast. Good hidden talent from NITV that have experience with the media and with good potential.

  12. I thought it was a cop-out that they modified the rules for Nathan for the 1st challenge even though Nathan had declared ‘ I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here’.

Based on everyone’s performance in the first episode, I am worried for both Dom and Nathan – they could be popular with the Australian public when it comes voting into tucker trials. Aren’t we a bunch of mean people in Australia LOL.

    1. 10 might have thought Married would be wrapped up by now. Instead of airing Sun-Wed as usual, Nine only had two episodes last week and held the final two for this week. Not sure if that always the plan, or a strategic move by Nine since 10 confirmed April 2nd airdate so early.

  13. No doubt Kerrie Anne will have her own hair and make up truck and will be sleeping at the resort while being driven to set by limo every morning.

  14. Enjoyed the first episode and even knew most of the contestants and that’s a first for an oldie like me, not a fan of KAK but will see how she goes.

  15. A few good gets there but the majority of celebrities this year are worse than previous years. I always keep an eye on who goes in to the jungle without any interest in watching the show a-la the Masked Singer.
Anyway… I really wanted Jonathan Thurston to go in. I didn’t realise what a hunk Harry Garside is though haha.

    1. Completely agree, being a contestant on a reality show is a terrible qualification for a “celebrity” show and reason enough for me to give this a miss. On a side note I sat next to Liz Ellis on a flight a few years ago and she was lovely. There was nothing precious about her, she was as genuine as she appears on TV. I hope she wins.

  16. Well I got one right finally. I guessed Kerri-Ann but didn’t think there was any way in the world she would ever do this show. How long before she says something outrageous?
