Taken Out taken out of 7pm slot

After just two weeks, TEN blinks and moves Taken Out to 6pm, replaced by Friends at 7:00.

Channel TEN has moved on its under-performing new dating show, Taken Out.

It will move from 7pm to 6pm immediately, with Friends moving back to the 7:00 slot.

Taken Out has been on air for two weeks now, with disappointing figures. It premiered to 851,000 but dropped to 581,000 on Friday.

The show hosted by James Kerley pits 30 contestants for a date with one single, so far only girls have comprised the group. 30 guys will get their turn for a date with a single female next week.

Of most concern for TEN is that the show has lost viewers who have been watching Neighbours, which had a knock-on effect for other shows, including the debut of Bondi Rescue: Bali. Reviews for the show have been almost universally negative.

Moving the show to 6pm will take the heat off the show somewhat where it will hope to find a renewed following.

Meanwhile, TEN also has 130 episodes of Out of the Blue up its sleeve…

  2. I don’t understand why they didn’t just make this a “once a week” show… Like perfect match used to be… That way the same women each show wouldn’t be as noticed, the interest would be kept – and if you are interested in the show, you would probably make more of an effort to actually watch it…

  5. It is unfortunate to see another locally produced show replaced by ancient repeats of sitcoms and animated imports.

    I must agree with an earlier poster who indicated that much of the interest in the show seemed to be generated by older viewers. My parents (in their sixties) watched it religiously and discussions at my place of work suggested that those who were watching were almost entirely 40+.

    I would love to see the actual demographics of the ratings on this one. I think Ten may have received a greater shcok than simply low overall numbers.

  6. the simpsons is still on tuesdays with a new and a repeat episode, it hasn’t disappeared completely. this will make all the friends fans happy, they were sugessting bringing friends back at 6 and removing the simpons but then you would get that same problem of the editing and censorship which ruined episodes. and while everyone is bagging taken out they must be doing something right coz it’s forum over at 10 has surged ahead with the second most posts of the whole thing, only beaten by supernatural. granted initially all the posts were bad but now there are positive ones. i will probably check it out now it is on at 6 just to see what it is all about coz so far all i’ve seen is the ads and haven’t watched a minute of it, so i’ll atleast channel flick and see some of it i’m sure.

    its tradition for spoilt kids who have their own tv.. or tv power that the simpsons gets viewed over the news!!

  8. Nathan Nine had been showing S10 this year mostly in the early morning but i haven’t seen an episode for awhile now. They were up to the last few eps although i could have missed them as Nine sometimes showed them in the afternoon unadvertised.

  9. I think its interesting that most of us are more upset about the loss of The Simpsons! And Simpsons eps that we have seen hundreds of times too. I wish Channel 10 would take note of that!

  11. Why am I not surprised that taken out has flopped you would have thought that ten would have learned from yasmins not getting married

    I don’t watch the Simpson’s but I would safely say to all of its fans that they probably wont have to wait to long before taken out is taken out permantly

  12. I was so excited tonight to see an ad saying Friends was back at 7pm and assumed the best – that this stupid pathetic boring show was finally axed after two dismal weeks. But no, now Ten are scrambling to try and save it by moving it forward an hour – hello? You’ve got to be kidding! I love watching The Simpsons and am furious that you think moving this show is going to make me want to watch it ….. I’ve already moved over to Home and Away for the first time in years, and now will just watch 7 or 9 for the news instead. CAN THE STUPID SHOW, IT’S PATHETIC!

  13. i was so excited when I saw the ad for Friends back on at 7pm, i thought Taken Out was gone for good. but they’re moving it to 6? against both channel 7 and 9 news? why bother?

    Nick; the friends promo had a lot of season 8 stuff, I think, with Monica and chandlers wedding ;P still; i’ll happily watch any ep :D:D:D

  14. All i can say is thank god and welcome back Friends!!! And Nick I’m not sure about that as i know Nine still have the rights to S10 and have been playing them. I’m hoping they go back to the beginning and start again.

  16. What season of friends will air, they were up to 10 when they took it off. i remember people were saying channel ten didn’t have this season, but some of their promos for it earlier in the year had scenes from season 10.

  18. Craig, maybe your parents are interested because its something they can no longer do (date with random abandon) and the series gives them a chance to vicariously live it and escape for a short while?

    Sadly the show misses all the points of what made Perfect Match such a huge success … so it goes straight past the audience it’s supposedly aiming at.

  19. The demographic thing is weird, I never watch the show but my parent did.

    They don’t like Friends so I guess they’ll find something else at 7pm to watch, now how do I break the news to them?
