Seven eyes Triple Zero Heroes

A new series build around emergency calls looks due next year.

Break out the kleenex.

TV Tonight understands Seven is set to give the thumbs up to a new series, Triple Zero Heroes.

The series utilises original 000 emergency calls along with reconstructions and interviews, and is an original programme from FremantleMedia Australia.

Sources say it promises to be a real tear-jerker.

  1. So thats border security, the force, rspca, the zoo, find my family, medical emergency, crash investigation unit, wildlife rescue (is that axed?) and now triple zero heroes. they all rate brilliantly so best guess is this one will

these factual shows are a god send for 7 really, they’ve been a huge net for them with the diminshing figures for the big american series they so heavily relied off (and won because of) last year, like heroes, prisonbreak, uglybetty, lost, bros and sisters, and even greys anatomy and desperate housewives werent as dominant this year.

So what, a bit of information as to what goes on in real life situations its harmless infotainment thats better than other continously repeated, crude, desperate for laughs, stupid sitcoms

u are being a bit unreasonable, you are asking for more of what there is already plenty of, and asking networks to stop making show that people like.

everyone on this website raves to the networks to “give people what they want” just look at the ratings, people can’t get enough of factuals so they make more. just goes to show that you can’t please everyone, so they just have to please as many people as possible.

the shows that you seem to like: LOST, dexter, House (i will agree are all great shows) will never interfere with factuals. dramas are almost always 8:30 factuals are mostly 7:30

  3. I never said I didn’t like Australian drama Ella. I think it’s very important for our television stations to to reflect our unique and interesting culture. In fact, I think Rush has really tried to do something different to the usual detective dramas like City Homicide and has been successful in generating an engaging show.

What I abhor is the networks flooding our airwaves with shows that have no intrinsic value outside of allowing viewers to particapte in the misery of others. I don’t find it uplifting to watch people struggling with terminal diseases, foreigners being targeted at customs, babies on life support or police getting into a brawl with drunk drivers. And I certainly don’t find it entertaining.

That’s the reason I have no interest in those type of shows. I’d much rather watch an episode of House. At least then the diseases are fictional and no one’s being exploited during a terrible time in their life. And yes they do agree to appear on the shows, but that doesn’t make it any more acceptable to me.

I will now step off my soap box !

“original concept, well-written scripts, interesting characters that develop over the series, a decent production value and a cast who manages to bring those factors together to provide a unique viewing experience.”

there are plenty of those shows already on tv: city homicide, packed to the rafters, rush.

and anyway the show that you are describing is a drama these are almost never on at 7:30 factuals are on a completely different playing field. they are not going to stop making factuals to make way for a new drama.

and anyway this announcement is one half hour show for 2009 there are still a lot of gaps there is no reason that they can’t make a show for you aswel

  5. I don’t watch football and I certainly don’t whinge about the US when they have produced some of the most fascinating and challenging shows to ever grace our screens.

To answer your question R, I don’t think my standards aren’t unachievably high. All I ask for is an original concept, well-written scripts, interesting characters that develop over the series, a decent production value and a cast who manages to bring those factors together to provide a unique viewing experience.

Dexter, Lost, and Mad Men (among others) have provided this.

Border Security, The Force, RPA, Medical Emergency and various other factual dramas that operate on the concept of Schadenfraude, have not.

  6. michael*oz – “and people say nine have run out of ideas”
knoxoverstreet – “more lowest common denominator tv from seven”
swayslayer – “I hate Australian factual drama with the fiery passion of a thousand suns.”

it was announced today that Nine have four new factual programmes in development for 2009. So i’d say Nine are indeed out of ideas and keen to follow what you call the “lowest common denominator” lead.

Geez. People whinge when there’s too much US content on our networks, and when Seven pump out all these Aussie shows which rate their socks off, people whinge that the shows are terrible. Is there any pleasing you bunch? Just what programmes meet your oh so high standards?

  7. Sounds like an interesting concept, though not a fan of reconstructions

knoxoverstreet, I think you’d find scheduling 10 hours of 2.5 Men repeats a week is lowest common denominator tv, scheduling first run quality factuals is not.
    *winks*

  8. u guys can’t seriously be saying that 7 has run out of ideas when 9 has ideas like Hole in the wall, the chopping block, monster house, my kids a star, power of 10. and completely unoriginal shows like million dollar wheel and battlefronts.

atleast people actually watch 7’s factuals

  9. More lowest common denominator tv from 7. Looks like they’ve officially run out of ideas but when rubbish like this rates they don’t need any.

  10. I hate Australian factual drama with the fiery passion of a thousand suns. The fact that repeats of Border Security still pull in 1.7m boggles my mind.

There used to be a show called Rescue 911 which has exactly the same concept and was hosted by none other than Willam Shatner. I admittedly used to watch that but it was American and I was 10 years old with no taste in TV.

  11. Robert in formats, execution is everything. You can have five shows that all cover the same terrain, but if they do it in a different way its considered an original format. Rich List is an original format over Family Feud for instance, but it all harks back to the same principle of survey results. No doubt this will have differences from Call 911.

  12. Dino, is this true? O well i guess if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em

i can’t picture ch9 ever doing factuals with the same success ch7 does. we’ll have to wait and see, it will be surpising what ch9 come up with, ch7 seem to have bagzd lots of the ideas.

  13. Not the biggest fan of factuals, apart from Medical Emergency – so I might like this. If you think 7 are going into factual overload, 9 are also producing 4 new factuals in 2009.

  14. What a great name for a show too. The people who take the 000 calls and the police, ambulance and emergency teams do a fantatsic job. It is wonderful they are being recognised in a show.
I also am looking forward to watching this new show. Sounds like a real tear jerker and I will have the tissues ready.

Fremantle Media do great shows and I am sure this one will be good!!

  15. This sounds like a fantastic show. I love watching factual programs and congratulations channel 7 on your new show!!!
I’m sure it will have some really sad stories by having the actual 000 calls.
I along with many others love all the medicall factual stuff and as this is REAL, it will be really interesting to watch.

  16. well i cannot say it sounds over appealing but thats what i thought about most factuals. i guess this is almost a guaranteed sucess, people love factuals especially the tear jerking ones (ie.FMF)

  17. oh God not another tear jerker from seven? the last one didn’t work did it. Where is their creative spark, seven just keeps pumping out these shows all the time. it’s becoming the new reality network!
