  1. The funny thing is the AFL player wasn’t allowed to rock up, as it was a conflict with Powerade. I have no idea how you could make any money out of this so called event. What a farce, one HD must be scrapping the barrell for its so called 24 hour sports channel. Honestly One is crap apart from showing One Week of a Time, the Monday night AFL show. They have now fishing, American car auctions and splash the cash paint ball. Good luck to Bolt in making a buck out of it. They also have Luke Darcy doing the netball commentary which I feel sorry for him!

  2. Just watched the race and what a surprise, League Freak. You have been proven wrong again. The “token representatives” cleanly took out first and second places. Your beloved NRL boys couldn’t do better than third even tho’ the race was stacked in their favour.

  3. its stupid they held it during finals time it would be much better with the likes of Kevin Gordon, and Brett Morris also why isnt akuila uate running he would smash the guys in this race if i could line up the fastest in a rae my 8 would be
    Kevin Gordon
    Aku Uate
    Nathan Gardner
    Isaac Gordon
    Chris Lawrence
    Brett morris
    Jarryd Hayne
    Michael Jennings

  4. I believe the race was initially conceived as a rugby league event (the organiser is Hayden Knowles, who’s the conditioning coach or something at Parra) which explains the preponderance of leaguies. The reps from other codes would have been added later to broaden the appeal of the event.

Anyway, I’m not familiar with the AFL/RU/soccer contestants, but of the RL guys I’d probably favour Nathan Gardner or Ben Barba to win. They’re both small but have a tonne of pace. GI is probably a bit too heavy, and Hayne and JMoz haven’t been in particularly good form this year.

  5. Why couldn’t they try getting in an AFL representative from the Sydney Swans like Lewis Jetta who’s got blistering pace every time he graces the footy field? I mean, Sydney do host matches at ANZ Stadium (Sydney Olympic Park). They just hosted a final there a couple of weekends ago, for christ’s sake!

After all, the AFL is the only code that does not have a representative from a club in New South Wales.

The NRL have representatives from Cronulla, Parramatta and Canterbury, rugby union has a Waratah, and the A-League has a representative from the Central Coast, but what do the AFL have? Nothing but a representative from Essendon, in Victoria for crying out loud!

And of course, it would do a lot of good if there were less NRL representatives, some of which from the same team. Network Ten do have a joint broadcast rights agreement to broadcast AFL games with the Seven Network.

The Nine Network has the NRL, so why oh why does there have to be so many NRL players in this event?

  6. The funny thing about this is that there was a lot of talk that the NRL should organize a race between the games fastest players. They if course sat back and did nothing.

Now NRL contracted players will be used to promote a drinks brand and appear on Channel 10!

By the way, why they are bothering to add a rugby union, soccer and AFL player us beyond me’. They will be non factors and get badly shown up.
