The Amazing Race will be fastracked to television in a bold move the sees the show airing on 7mate.

The move confirms previous hints from Programming and Production Director Tim Worner.

It will air at 6:30pm on Sunday February 27th, six days after its US premiere.

This series will feature eleven teams of two, each returning from a previous edition, including a stop in Australia.

Utilising the multichannel means Aussie viewers won’t have to wait weeks or months to see the new series. Survivor fans are awaiting similar good news from Nine, with the new series about to launch.

Otherwise the only real downside is that 7mate is not part of the Foxtel satellite platform (can we please get these extra channels addressed?).

Seven also has a local version of TAR coming this year with Grant Bowler as host.

  1. Not happy at all! I cannot get 7mate and TAR is my favourite show hands down, even applied to be in the Aussie version. Please put it on 7Two at the very least!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. I am disappointed for this change.

1 – because my HD set top box surged from a storm and had to put my SD back so cant pick up the HD channels and if anyone says ‘go buy another’ well, not everyone can keep spending on electronic equipment as I also lost a dvd player so instead i will invest on a powerboard surge protector.

2 – the move is bad because all the secondary channels do not cater for the deaf and hard of hearing so none of the shows, esp old re-runs are being captioned as is mandatory on the primary channels.

I will be very disappointed to miss this series cause not everyone has HD access for one reason or another – it shouldve been put on 7TWO instead.

Channel 7 – you need, as well as all other stations, to provide this service – this is why I dont watch the secondary channels.. and yes, I am dependant on captioning! Till you offer this service to All programs, not a handful that were previously captioned and aired before, then I will start to support you.

  3. I’m really excited for TAR. Finally on at a good time and I’m fortunate and have 7mate.

I love TAR its one of my favourite shows. Though I do agree that maybe a late night repeat on 7 for those who don’t have HD channels or are in regional areas can see it.

Thanks 7. I’m very happy and looking forward to seeing the new season.

  4. Hahaha…laughing at the Foxtel losers…why don’t you just watch it in the actual 7mate…and please do not tell me you can’t afford a HD set-top box (at a minimum) when you can afford Foxtel.
And I cannot really believe anyone cannot wait 6 days after the US airing to watch it. You would really rather watch it on your PC than wait 6 days?
I think this is a good move because I think they are trying to close the gap between ‘the main channel’ and the alternatives.

  5. Complain when 7mate is full of reruns and third-rate shows.

Complain when 7mate tries to boost its profile and air decent programs in prime time that fit the channels market

Complain when 7 doensn’t fasttrack shows.

Complain when 7 fasttracks shows and cause a clash with other programs.

Complain when HD shows are shown in SD.

Complain when HD shows are shown on HD channels

    Some people are never happy…

  6. Foxtel IQ is far superior than any of the FTA set-top boxes that I have used, so maybe this is why people want to be able to receive all the FTA channels via Foxtel. I live in Perth and we only get ABC & SBS on Foxtel.

  7. I think the main reason why seven is showing the new US series on 7mate is because now the main Seven channel can now fully focus the local Australian version.

  8. i like the idea of screening on mate, but i would prefer a 7.30pm or 8.30pm weeknight slot as there are too many choices on sundays already. plus they could replace some of the repeats of mother/family guy/american dad. i probs wont be watching if its on Sundays.

  9. I cant believe theu have put it on didgital tv. I guess i will be taping it. It doesnt do that badly and if they are coming to Australia then people will watch.

Tim Worner has been frustrating me with his decisions. His last few havent been that great.

  10. Discusting channel seven either get digital channels to regional area faster or leave good entertaining shows on your main channel. Once again regional viewers miss out because networks are to worried about what the city people wanna watch !!!
