How many times can TEN play The Devil Wears Prada?
It’s just been scheduled for 9:30 on Friday night, in a slot that was still TBA.
But it means Go Girls won’t air this week, despite the third season beginning last week at 10:30pm.
TEN’s ratings on Friday last week were a shocker, but part of that was due to Rules of Engagement at 7:30pm. Given it’s numbers I do think moving House to Fridays makes sense, but not if it doesn’t have a decent lead-in and not if the schedule is spinning like a lazy susan around it. But I blogged on that last month. And back in 2008 .
TEN last played the Prada movie on July 31st, and will recycle it less than three months later. I guess there just weren’t enough Back to the Future sequels to go round.
I would have thought the much-needed drama points that Go Girls delivers would have helped it secure a slot. The NZ show passes as “local drama” if it is played in primetime on the primary channel. But not elsewhere.

if Seven owns Universal, why did GO air The Big Lebowski on saturday night?
and why do 7mate air Sony movies like Cable Guy when Nine owns them?
If it wasn’t for 11 ten would be dead.
They all do it and 9 is much worse than this example.
9 played My Sister’s Keeper on Friday and its on GEM again this week.
9 repeated Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince on 7 October after having shown it on 20 August. How many times has the Harry Potter series been repeated on both 9 and GO.
Finding Nemo was play by 7 last month having been show in late March this year.
7TWO showed the James Bond movies earlier this year and now they are all being repeated again on 7Mate.
It’s funny… sometimes you can just never pick the topics that resonate with readers.
as of now, this is what company is on what channel –
Ch 7 – Touchstone, Universal, Miramax
Ch 9 – Sony, Warner Bros, Newline Cinema, Fox Searchlight, Roadshow
Ch 10 – 20th Century Fox, Paramount
now Nine/GO and Gem seem to be airing MGM movies too!!
heres what they had in the past –
Ch 7 – Paramount, Fox (which would explain why Bones and HIMYM are on it)
Ch 9 – same as always minus Sony. Paramount?
Ch 10 – Universal, Sony and originally had Fox.
Ten I believe lost Fox to Seven somewhere in the early to mid 90’s and now have them back. which would explain why Simpsons was always on Ten and Futurama was originally on Seven. Ten lost Universal in the early to mid 00’s.
Just found some infomation on Ten’s movie library:
Ten has the rights to 20th century fox and paramount pictures feature films.
Ten also has the rights to Columbia pictures/sony pictures movies produced prior to 2007. And they also have the rights to Universal pictures movies produced before 2008: Channel 9 and 7 have the rights to later movies with UP.
So Ten has a dam lot more movies to choose from so lets see them 10.
Oh my fkn god! there are like a million movies out there and Ten chooses to show the same ones over and over!!
How about piranha 3D or the 2 new halloween remakes, the final destination movies, wrong turn 1,2 and 3. so many good ones out there
It’s the new ‘The Mighty ducks’ ten used to air that every second friday night back in the 90s.
Not as bad as some channels. Go played four holidays twice in the past month, and I think I saw hidalgo listed twice in a.fortnight recently on 7mate/two
It could be worse, the normal “go-to” movie for ten is Billy Maddison or Happy Gillmore…
i blame the audience who persist to watch such movies instead of chucking on a dvd. If they add to the ratings, they’re supporting it continuing.
I’m sure it was only a couple of months between showings of The Hangover on GO! too….
The internet and sites like this have empowered viewers to to give one fingered salute to the crappy networks still stuck in the 1990s
Seven played Love Actually about six months ago. Has Ten lost About A Boy to Seven too?
Mary was on Ten two weeks ago. If the repeat cycle gets that short, they should just close down the station.
With all the viewer movement last night due to the big RWC game and the Perth telethon, wouldn’t this week have been the perfect week to offer a Friday encore of Terra Nova?
To be fair to Ten, i’ve just had a look at some of 20th Century Fox’s movies, and there’s some real stinkers. They have Avatar though. When will Ten show that?
Don’t know why people would watch movies on commercial tv anymore with the amount of ads they have. People are switching off watching shows on tv, watching films on tv is even worse. Just go get a dvd from the library, it’s free. And no ads.

Nine used to always play Miss Congeniality on either fri/sat night. Willy Wonka was also make many apperances, particularly around Easter.
Ten is a sinking ship…. nothing is working for them at the moment!
About as many times as “Love Actually”.
Who the Hell has the Star Wars Movies anyway , i bet George Lucas took away all the originals before he bastardised them.
I am not sure about Nine having all the movies, I seem to remember that Nine has Village, Universal and Warner, I think Seven has MGM, UA, Sony and Columbia, I think that is right because after Kerry Stokes sold MGM he kept hold of the movie library, David you may care to check this one out Who has what movies ?
at least Ten and Eleven don’t play as many movies as GO and Nine!
@ Paul – Mean Girls is a Paramount movie, if anything it’ll be played on Eleven more now.

They should have tried Go Girls at 9.30pm. It’s a fun show. Couldn’t do any worse than some of the drivel they run on Ten. 😛
Ten only has one movie deal with 20th Century Fox, it used to have Sony and more but Nine has them all now !
