Rowena Wallace puts Logie on eBay (again)

Rowena Wallace has again put up a Logie Award for sale through eBay.

2013-03-30_0136Rowena Wallace has again put up a Logie Award for sale through eBay.

She is flogging her 1984 Silver trophy for “Best Lead Actress In A Series” awarded for her portrayal of iconic TV super villain ‘Pat The Rat’ in Sons & Daughters. This was the same year she won the Gold.

The actress tried to sell a Gold Logie in November stating, “Due to fiscal circumstances this treasured possession needs to find a good new home.” But it had to be withdrawn for legal reasons.

Now her eBay page says “The legal issue that forced Rowena to withdraw her Logie from sale previously has now been sorted out, and she is now free to offer this cherished award for sale in order to help her relocate to Queensland.”

If you care to bid the starting priced is $4,000.00 but so far there are no takers.

“No returns accepted.”

  1. Universe93 I act myself and would personally love a logie it would be huge deal for me! But I’m saying I’d want my name on it! It’s just I wouldn’t pay that much for someone else’s! A logie is something you earn! Not buy (unless you were nominated for the Gold in 2011 and somehow had a large phone bill! No names!) but I look forward to the logies each year!

  2. adzg you may be cynical but a lot of people still vote for the logies, wath the logies and enjoy the logies and want to own one just to say that they do have it as a collector’s item. plus you’d be amazed how many fans of sons and daughters are out there. it’s sad that such a talented actress can’t get work but if you tihnk about it there aren’t that many parts in australia for an actress of her age. yes there are older actors in H&A and neighbours but those shows have learned not to focus on those storylines, as older audiences don’t bring in the ratings like the teenagers do. and sadly the longer she doesn’t work the less relevant she is and less likely to get work on shows like apprentice, because she has to at least be notable to be cast.

  3. Totally agree with Bella. That or do Celeb Apprentice or something as she’d ruffle some feathers and maybe shed rejuvinate her career eg Julia Morris

  4. Will someone really pay $4000 for someone else’s Logie!?!? I mean alot of Aussie actors want one but that’s it! Not sure it would be something a collector would make a lot of money out of in years to come!

  5. Rowena was amazing as Pat the Rat. Sons and Daughters was such a big show when I was growing up. I don’t know if she is well enough to act but if she is and someone gave her a chance, I’d tune in. Look at Mickey Rourke. What an incredible comeback for him. Just because someone disappears off the screen for years it doesn’t have to mean it’s all over. I have missed the ACA stories so not sure why she isn’t getting work

  6. Poor Rowena – this is so sad! She’s a fantastic actress & it’s awful to see tv royalty in strife.
In the US they look after there older actors – not so here!
Neighbours should get her back – Mad Mary hits Ramsey St 🙂

  7. I must admit I am enjoying the current story lines in neighbours with Lou and Sheila. senior actors are still needed in shows. producers need to remember this.

  8. I do feel for her. In her heyday she was as big as anyone, a huge star and if she sells it I hope she gets a lot of money for it. Better still it would be nice for 7 to buy it and keep it at the network as they did well out of her.I also think Rowena would hate doing all those ACA and TT stories but has to do them for economic reasons. We should be showing our older stars a bit more respect. I also feel that in her era Logies were more earned.

  9. This is truly sad. I don’t want to feel sorry for her, as i think she needs to reinvent herself as well as she can, but this sort of occurrence does nothing to endear her, or if it is, it is pity. She is a talented lady – how did it get to this?

  10. Yet another sad story about a once popular person struggling to get by.

This is quite common with soap stars who leave a show thinking they’ll make it big elsewhere.

For every Kylie Minogue there’s a dozen Rowenas, Dieter Brummers, Bruce Samazans…

    1. Unfair to put Rowena in that category. She was not a one-hit wonder and has been an actor since 1967, both stage and screen. Last year she appeared on Micro Nation for ELEVEN. The issue gets back to the limitations for senior actors and that sadly she has done too many publicity articles that paint a negative picture. Her days in Sons & Daughters, Cop Shop, Water Under the Bridge, Division 4 and Prisoner were the best of times. She is not in the Bruce Samazan category.

  11. It’s very sad what has happened to Rowena Wallace in recent years. It’s such a shame to have to sell her Logie, since it really has no meaning to anyone but her.
