David Koch: Logies “not worth going this year.”

Kochie addresses non-attendance at the Gold Coast after his rival makes it a hot topic.

David Koch has responded to a question about why he is not attending the Logie Awards.

Speaking to FIVEaa’s David and Will he indicated it clashed with football commitments, but that it wasn’t the first time had skipped them.

“We’ve always scratched our head at how the Logies are decided and judged,” he added.

“The powers that be at Seven have said, well, not worth going this year. As I say, I haven’t been for a few years … I’m not missing much I don’t think.”

Not quite true, he was there last year as this photo indicates.

“I think there is a place for the Logies,” Koch added. “But I think they’ve got to be a bit more transparent in how it’s all done and maybe have a rethink of how it goes.”

Yesterday Karl Stefanovic criticised his “boring” opposition for not attending, prompting Sam Armytage to respond “I agree @karlstefanovic we are boring. So boring you can’t stop talking about us on your show”.

Sunrise executive producer Michael Pell questioned Stefanovic’s own call to boycott the event, adding on social media, “The exercise is simply too costly for us in 2018.”

Seven is reportedly planning “a significant presence” at the Logies including every nominee.

Meanwhile in unrelated news, a 1970 Logie awarded to The Mod Squad is up for private sale to be sold at Leonard Joel’s auction in South Yarra today at 2pm.

  1. Logies should really be the first Sunday of the ratings year in Feb, with voting over summer non-ratings or earlier. By July we are half way through another year well and truly forgetting what happened in the previous year.

  2. It doesn’t seem the same this year, not being in Melbourne, but especially that it will air in July? July 2018 for 2017 nominees. If their show was at the start of the year that’s an 18 month stretch. it feels like an after thought this year.
