Renewed: Young Sheldon

Three more seasons approved for Chuck Lorre sitcom.

Young Sheldon has been renewed for three more seasons, on air until at least 2024.

Back in 2019, the Big Bang prequel was also renewed for two seasons.

The series starring Iain Armitage and narrated by Jim Parsons, it has been averaging 9.6 million US viewers.

“Under Chuck Lorre’s and Steve Molaro’s deft leadership, this superb cast and gifted writers have truly brought these wonderful characters to life,” said Kelly Kahl, president of CBS Entertainment. “Young Sheldon dominates the broadcast comedy landscape by over +2.5 million viewers and is the lynchpin of CBS’ top-rated Thursday comedy lineup. The humor, warmth and heart exuded by the Cooper family is an undeniable hook for the millions of fans who tune in each week. We’re excited to see what the next three seasons have in store for a slightly older Sheldon and all the Coopers.”

  1. This show is a beautiful complement to Big Bang. It shows so well how our memories as adults are not always true to fact. If you only watch Big Bang you would think Sheldon’s family were totally abnormal, but through Young Sheldon we see that every weird memory he has, has a quite logical explanation. As an adult, Sheldon idolises his Meemaw, and yet we see she was quite a poor influence, and his mother was loving and selfless. I love George Snr in particular.

I wonder how they will cope with the aging of the kids. We can already see it in Missy. They will have to keep the filming going in step with the story.

  2. Will this take us to a 7th season? Or is only 6 guaranteed at this point?

I also hope Blu-Ray support will continue for this show. Had to rely on an import from the US to acquire Season 3 of Young Sheldon on Blu-Ray. (thankfully works)

  3. I adore this show! So much charm. It warms the cockles of my heart. Always overlooked during awards season. I think Annie Potts deserves a nom at least, if not many more.

  4. I love this show it’s one of the funniest shows on TV. It’s gobsmaxking it wasn’t nominated for the recent Emmy’s or Golden Globes.
