Miriam Margolyes has filmed a new documentary series with Irish politician Lynn Ruane for broadcaster RTE.
She recently told TV Tonight, “I’m going to do a documentary in Ireland about Lady Gregory, an Irish patriot who was a friend of WB Yeats, and a great famous lady in the 1920s. I didn’t know anything about her. They asked me if I’d like to discover her. So I said I would. I’m going to do that with an Irish lady politician called Lynn Ruane.”
Margoyles is also hoping to return to Call the Midwife in the future.
“My character is still in it. But I can’t be in this series because I’m working. I’m not free. So I have to wait till the next next one. But I’m still Mother Mildred,” she explained.
“It’s fabulous. Gorgeous people to work with, a great company to be part of. But what I’m doing a lot of is documentaries, which is something I never thought I would ever do. I think of myself as an actress. But I seem to be a mouth – sharing, not my story, but other peoples’ stories and I do think that’s interesting.
“And I’m doing another documentary with Alan Cumming, going to Scotland and America. We’re going to California.
“Then I will be doing a theatre show around Australia in 2024.”
