Zan Rowe and Charlie Pickering to host ABC's biggest annual event next month.

Zan Rowe and Charlie Pickering will return as hosts of ABC’s New Year’s Eve broadcast on December 31.

Zan Rowe also teased the musical acts saying, “It is an incredible lineup. I’m so excited to tell you that we have from Brisbane the incredible electric pop duo Conidence Man this is a show that has to be seen to be the believed, King Stingray who are one of the best bands in Australia right now from Northeast Arnhem Land, phenomenal live.

“And the powerhouse, the legend, the myth, the magic that is Jessica Mauboy is going to be bringing in the New Year as well. This is just the tip of the iceberg. We’ll be announcing more artists very soon.”

  1. Looks like no Casey Donovan this time – that’s a shame, she’s usually the highlight of that NYE program. Jess Mauboy isn’t a bad replacement however.
    More of Rhys Nicholson too please, ABC, he’s hilarious!

  2. For what is billed at the one the biggest NYE events in the world it perplexes me how we can’t have local talent and a major international star every year. The fact it’s on the ABC as well when surely this is a ratings boom every year is also fascinating.

I don’t think we need an international star on our New Year’s celebrations….we get enough of them on the talent shows judging Australian talent…..if you look up the Triple J “What’s up in Australian Music” you will see there is a decline in Australian local bands, artists and music makers…I would prefer to see them showcase their talents on the night.

    2. A lot of artists make big money performing on NYE. It would be difficult for the ABC to attract high profile artists as it just wouldn’t be able to match the money. I’m not sure how much City of Sydney would chip in – most of their budget would go to fireworks.
